SOURCE: whay kind of hydraulic fluid do I use in a mtd

Hi,

You can use 10W AW hydraulic fluid or Dexron III automatic transmission fluid. It takes approximately 4 gallons. You need to change the fluid after every 100 hours of usage.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

SOURCE: ryobi electric log splitter won't return to startposautomaticaly

We have one of these splitters and the only problem has been a control valve sticking down. Oiled the valve button with silicon oil which seems to have helped. Be sure to close the bleeder valve when putting the machine away. We bought the machine from Home Depot. Use some headphones for your music! We have split rounds much larger than recommended by splitting from different sides. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: I have a King

Plug a known working lamp into the power socket to verify that power is there. This unit should be used on a 20 ampere circuit and use a heavy 12 gauge extension cord if required. When the motor runs, it also drives the pump. The pump could be in poor condition or the piston may be passing hydraulic fluid by it. Service of these units should be left to an experienced hydraulic mechanic who will have the necessary pressure gauges and other specific tools. If you just obtained this splitter, take it back for warranty service or replacement. Hydraulic service is not cheap! Hope this helps!

SOURCE: What type of motor oil

If you are using it mainly at 30 degrees or above I would use straight 30 weight non-detergent oil.If you use it at lower temperatures then I would use 10w-30.That's what I run in mine and it's running great after 16 years. Thank you.

Works for 15 min and then ,the ram moves to log and stops, checked fluid ok, voltage 115 ok

My thought is that there is air in the line. I had problem like that with my splitter. To cure it I had to stand the splitter on end because the oil fill is at the wedge end. I filled it. set it back horizontal and cycled the ram full length 3 times. I stood it on end again and could add more fluid. When I filled again it was now full of fluid and works properly. It also could be that the splitter is not powerful enough to split that size log down the middle. I must take a smaller bite then it works.

Adding hydrolic oil to yardworks 4-ton wood spliter

Replace the Hydraulic oil in the log splitter after
every 150 hours of use. Take following steps to
replace it.
  1. Make sure all moving parts stops and the log splitter is unplugged.
  2. Unscrew Oil Drain Bolt with Dipstick to remove it.
  3. Turn the log splitter on the Support Leg side over an 4 liters capacity container to drain the hydraulic oil off.
  4. Turn the log splitter on the the motor side.
  5. Refill fresh hydraulic oil at the volume as per the hydraulic oil capacity of a particular model indicated in above specifications table.
  6. Clean the surface of Dipstick on the Oil Drain Bolt and put it back into the oil tank while keep the log splitter vertically.
  7. Make sure the level of the refilled oil is just between 2 grooves around the Dipstick.
  8. Clean the Oil Drain Bolt before thread them back. Make sure they are tightened to avoid leakage before place the log splitter horizontally.
Periodically check oil level to ensure it is between
2 grooves around the Dipstick. Upon Lower oil
level, oil refilling is required.

What type of oil filter for a Huskee 22 ton log splitter with a 190cc briggs & stratton engine?

Filter #s

Fram 1653A
Napa 1553
Cross 1A9023
Baldwin BT839
Wicks 51553

Kd460, here are some crossover part#s for a replacement filter for your Speeco splitter. To answer your other question, yes hydraulic fluid will pour out when you unscrew the filter. You can drain the entire tank first in to a clean container and then re-use the oil or you can put a container under the filter and then change the filter quickly. The fluid caught by the container can then be poured back in to the unit.

If you have any questions, you can call us here at Speeco@ 800-525-8322

Thanks

Was just curious if the 4ton 2hp electric wood splitter was 110 or 220...hopefully 110 as I just ordered it for hubby!

Hi,
Sorry but I think it will be a 220V motor.
They do not advertise the voltage very well and I had to do some digging to find that the motor pulls 12.5 maps which would make it a 220 v motor. At 110v a 2 Hp motor would be pulling 20 amps or more which would still make it too much for most household circuits.
Running a new line for your splitter should not be a big project for most electrictians... Also if your husband has a gas generator most of them will run that splitter and then it would be portable...! Just load up the generator and the splitter and he can split anywhere...
