I just had the same issue but with the 810, which is basically the same. What I had done before that happened was turn on the "Automatic Head Maintenance", then after turning on the printer again the next time the error happened always a few seconds after it started...really frustrating.
The solution was turning off the "Automatic Head Maintenance". Do this as soon as you have access to the menu, because after a few seconds it will show the error and the touch menu will not work anymore. So as soon as the touch menu shows press Setup > Maintenance >Automatic Head Maintenance and turn it off.

If your printer is only 2 weeks old, I suggest calling Epson, and having them replace your printer. They will send you a new one, and you send the old one back.
