SOURCE: Remote's menu and input buttons, and television Input button not responding

well the problem sounds like it could be the IR sensor on the tv or somthing in that circut that is failing or the EPROM chip that controls : Vol up/down , Channel up/down , Power on/off ,Menu , Input selection , ect... is failing, thus this will trigger the protection circut to shut the tv down. this kind of a problem only gets worse and can dammage other components if not repaired soon so it will need testing to determine the exact cause

SOURCE: AV input selection without a remote

I had the same problem. I hooked up the DVD player and then got into the set up. I used the add/erase feature to go through all of the channels. At channel 91, I saw the logo for the dvd player. I added that channel and now the dvd player works.

SOURCE: Direct TV remote "tv input" button won't work with my Sony TV

I came across this looking for a similar solution for my Samsung TV, and I found the solution on ehow.com. Apparently after you program the remote for your TV you have to hold mute and select again until it flashes twice then put in 960 to make the remote control TV input too. Note you're remote should be in TV mode while you do this. It seems silly that the DirectTV guy wouldn't do this when programming the remote.

I have a rca model rtu5540 . I don’t know how to activated the USB on the side of the tv, the book they give...they said it s a service port but give no explication how to activate.

USB flash drives require no power up. USB cameras, etc. may have a power button. If you insert, let's say, a flash drive into the TV's USB port, making sure it is fully inserted, it is already powered by the TV. What you are encountering is not a matter of activation but rather access which is granted by settings of the TV. You basically select from "input" menus, the USB choice. The TV then reads what is on the flash drive. You may have to move through the input options using your remote as such controls may not be otherwise accessible. The "input" menu may be the one that allows choice of HDMI, DVD, etc..

I have a Model D12-100 flat-screen TV, hooked up to DirecTV. I have lost my TV remote and have lost the signal for DirecTV. How do I get the signal to the HDM1 or HDM2 category without the TV remote?

First off, D12-100 is your direct TV Box, Not your TV. A D-12 -100 direct tv box is not an HD box and will only connect to your tv via a coaxial cable or av jacks (red, white, yellow).
If you have lost your remote for your tv and your direct tv remote does not operate it, then you should be able to find the manual buttons on your television somewhere along the edge of the screen.
Toggle inputs till your on "TV" then use the channel selection to toggle it up or down till it's on channel 3 or 4 for Direct tv, If that doesn't work toggle inputs again and try the AV inputs. And of course if you want to use another device toggle inputs to HDMI 1 or 2.

Can't select front input without remote

I had the same problem, had a universal DirecTV remote that was able to control the volume/mute, power and channels (both TV and DirecTV), but the input button didn't work. There was no av/tv button on the front of the tv, and the autoregistration of channels didn't pickup the gamecube on the AV channel. What solved it was simply to press "00". I couldn't believe it, but it was that simple. Hope this helps you like it helped me, since the tv was not going to be of much use since we were using the RCA inputs, not the coax. Didn't want to try to conver the RCA to coax either.

Input Selection without a Remote

On either the front of the TV or a universal remote (which I assume you have already programmed) hit the MENU button. Go to option 4 "Channel". Go down to "List and Labels." Hit the CH up or down key until you see "FRNT" come up under the channel # heading. If your DVD is connected and playing, you'll see it playing now. Exit the menu to watch. You'll have to reverse the process to get back to watching TV, but there doesn't seem to be any way around this if you don't have your RCA remote. This process is guaranteed to work on an F27442 and will probably work on some other RCA models.
