Until yesterday I was able to connect to the internet through Wi-Fi. Yesterday my iTouch would try and power down every time I turned it on. Then I did power down so that maybe it would 'reset'. But now I can't connect to the internet. I don't see a place where I can enter my wireless connection.

Try re-checking your wi-fi password. Log off your connection, Then try again to log-on. Make sure you have the right service, put in info and see if it takes. You may have to try a different service to see if the problem may be their's. If you logged into a different wi-fi recently you may still be logged into that one even though out of their range.
How many 'bars' are showing on wi-fi signal strength indicator (presuming you are using wi-fi for internet access)? If the signal strength is low, you could be losing connections that way, or there might be interference on the wi-fi channel that the tablet is using. Try changing channels in your wi-fi setup and see if there is an improvement in the behavior.
You have disabled wi-fi so it is asking whether you wish to use Phone Data Connection instead. (Standard Practice when trying to access data services)
What you need to do is un-tick the option in options Use only 2g networks. (3g is the mobile data service) That should then allow you to access Mobile Data. (3g)
Turn on your Itouch, then touch "Settings", you will see "Wifi"...find the wifi that you want to connect to and touch it to activate the wifi.
Good Luck, I hope this helped

The touch doesnt have a "key" this is the key from the Wi-fi spot you are trying to connect to. You will need the person that owns that wi-fi to provide that to you. The itouch simply connects to the wi-fi and uses it for internet. Hope this helps.
Try turning wi/fi off, power down, power back on, and then turn wi/fi back on. Also, install the new software update for this thing (3.1.2) to address wi/fi issues.
My mp4 turns on and the screen turns blue and then it says loading.I cant get it to do anthing past now loading. How can i fix this,?i have tried everything.
Go into Preferances, go to Wi-Fi, touch the blue cycle next to the Wi-Fi router you're conected to. Scroll to the bottom of the page and touch "Renew Lease", touch "Renew Lease" in the pop up. This may or may not work the first time. Either way, power off your iTouch by holding the "Power button" then sliding the slider. Turn it back on, go back to Preferences/Wi-Fi... Renew Lease... Try to open Safari. If it doesn't work the first time, no worries, try it all again. This is the solution, but if your iTouch gets glitchy, it can take a few tries. The most I've ever seen was 3 complete tries... "Renew Lease, Full Restart (slide to power off), Renew Lease"... one. Repeat!
don't let the iTouch connect to the wi-fi network it detected automatically - try setting up a new wi-fi network from scratch.
the setup screens will ask for network name (the SSID) the security protocol (probably WPA-PSK if you are having all this trouble) and the password (pre shared key)
I had that problem in the beginning with my iTouch.
Have you checked your IP address?
Try opening settings, then open Wi-Fi, then touch the blue circle with the arrow in it that's next to your Wi-Fi router's name.
Once you're looking at a screen with your network's name at the top and your iTouch's IP address in the middle, scroll to the bottom of the page and touch "Renew Lease", then confirm by doing it again on the popup.
Now, scroll back to the top of the page and wait a moment. You should see the IP address go blank and then a new number should appear.
Hopefully you're online, check by opening App Store or Safari.
If not...
Turn off your iTouch competely (hold the lock/power button until the "slide to power off" slider pops up, then slide it).
Next, turn off your Wi-Fi router and modem.
Wait 5 full minutes.
Turn on your modem, wait 2 full minutes.
Turn on your Wi-Fi router, wait 2 full minutes.
Turn on your iTouch.
