Viking #1+ sewing machine the needle and presser foot bar is loose how can I fix it?

I have a viking #1+ I let a friend borrow the machine for a few months she calls and tells me that she was using the free motion foot and it was breaking needles now it will only sew a straight stitch no matter which stitch she presses. I go over to her house and and notice right away that the needle is in the left position and WILL NOT move when to the center position when pressing the stitch selector However, I can manually move the needle bar with my finger it is very loose. I this fixable and how do you open the case?

SOURCE: Have Viking Husqvarna #1+ sewing machine that when

Make sure that the bobbin winder stop is up. That is the little black post below the bobbin winder. If it is pressed down, the machine will not run.

Where has it been for ten years? This could have a big affect on an electronic sewing machine.

Take the machine in to a sewing machine shop for service.

I've borrowed a memorycraft 300e from a friend. I've used it without incident for a few days but suddenly without any issues now whenever I turn the machine on I get an error message

Did you check the needle down button. Be honest and return it. Price one and wonder why you borrowed something so expensive. She may know what to do. But dont tinker or try to fix it. It seems like a fixable error. You probably afraid to tell her. But you stressing yourself out. If you borrow it you probably know a cheap embroidery machine is about $500. Just get it back and maybe she won't snap its probably something simple.

Viking 980 foot pedal not making contact with machine although machine has power.

It could be lint jammed into the jack the cord plugs into. Make sure the jack and plug are both clean and free of lint. It also could be a damaged cord. If a friend has a working Viking pedal try borrowing theirs to see if it works on your machine. If not, your machine might need service.

How do I change the presser foot?

some sewing machines have a screw that you have to undue
other sewing machines have a lever at the back of the foot, that you
push toward the bar that holds the presser foot.

While sewing my presser foot would lift for no reason. Did that off and on for a few days, and now it won't lower at all!

The Viking Designer 1 has a presser foot sensor system in the head/needle bar area. I believe that you have some thread wrapped around a link in that area. Look closely in the area that the take-up lever is in and if you see a thread end, try to get a hold of it with tweezers and turn the handwheel backwards to see if it unwinds.

How do I move the presser foot on a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116 sewing machine?

Not sure what exactly you need to know. Are you trying to lift the presser foot or change the presser foot to another one? If it is lifting, there will be a lever of some kind behind the machine. On one of my Husqvarna machines it was a big flat "paddle" shaped lever, not sure what shape it is on the Emerald machines. Lift the lever from the bottom upwards and outwards. Most Husqvarna machines have clip on-and-off feet. You just gently pull forwards on the foot (while the presser foot is raised) to remove it, then push the new one on making sure the small bar part of the presser foot goes into the clip on the presser foot ankle.

Viking 1: where is the bobbin control, my bobbin is loose...

The bobbin spool is loose, the bobbin case is loose or the bobbin stitches are loose??????

If it is the last one - thread the machine with the presser foot up and see if this resolves the issue.

I have a husgvarna viking 830. I was working on

If the lever to lift the presser foot is now just loose, take the face cover off (Left side aound light) and take a look, presser bar may have over extended and fallen off the lever connection...needs to be taken even higher as the lever is eased back and reset to "normal"

Fabric stuck when sewing

Several things could be happening. It may be the hook/needle timing. Or it could be the feeddogs are not moving (that's the toothy looking part under the presser foot that moves the fabric). Recommend removing thread and bobbin (needle and presser foot). Slowly move the handwheel and put your finger on top of the feeddogs to determine if they are moving back and forth and are high enough to move the fabric. Check to make sure you had not manually lowered the feed dogs. You may need to take it to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for their assistance. You can find the closest dealer at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us
