How to put bobbin in

First place the thread spool on the spool holder and secure it with the spool cap. Bring the thread to the left and snap it into the thread guide. Wind the thread clockwise around the bobbin tension discs. (Bring the thread to the right side of the discs and and then around the discs. Bring the thread to the right and then insert the end of the thread into the hole in the bobbin. Make sure that the hole is facing up. Place the bobbin on the bobbin spindle and push the spindle to the right. Hold onto the thread that is above the bobbin and step on the foot pedal to start winding the bobbin. When the bobbin is full enough, stop pressing the foot pedal (or wait for the machine to stop winding the bobbin). Cut the thread and move the spindle to the left. Remove the bobbin from the spindle.

Not sure what you mean by "vertical" bobbin. Everything I've found indicates it is a top loading bobbin that sets horizontally in the machine.

If the bobbin thread is knotting up in the bobbin then I'd say you need to rewind a fresh bobbin and make sure it is smooth with even tension as it goes onto the bobbin. If your bobbin thread looks a bit chunky and uneven, then you won't get good results from it. Also, check that you are putting the bobbin into the bobbin case the right way, the thread needs to come off the bobbin and make a reverse direction into the tension spring (assuming yours is a removeable bobbin case, not top loading)

I have a 241-12 Singer. New to me. It was running great. Then the bobbin thread ran out. Put in one prewound bobbin that came with it, even though the bobbin appeared different. The bobbin thread didn't feed and the machine jammed up. I finally wound the old bobbin and put it in. It will only feed about 6" of thread before the bobbin thread breaks. It becomes so tight I can't get it to feed. Both bobbins will not feed. However I don't believe it's the bobbin tension because thread will pull through fine when pulled manually (if it hasn't been in the machine yet). What am I doing wrong?

i think you have not looped the thread around the tension on the top before putting it onto the bobbin. you need to wrap the thread in a circle around the sphere near the regualr threading lines.

Did you move it to the right?It has to be against the piece above the wheel.
