Hello. I have some recorded mini DV cassette tapes which were recorded on my JVC DVC. Cassette dimension about 66 x 46 x 13 mm. All I can read from the tape label is TDK DX. As the video-cam has stopped working, I want to play back & record all non-junk video clips to my PVR, or via my video-USB grabber adapter to PC. Without having the video camera as a player, are there video-cassette players for this size? The format is VHS. I tried web-searching 'Desktop DV player' but got gazillions of non-related hits Video cams, ... estate agent!!?: Thanks for any advice. Clive.

Yes, if the camera is a US camera then it is NTSC. That would be your problem, you are trying to record an NTSC signal to a PAL video. THe frame rates and resolutions are all wrong. I am even surprised that it is playing back on your TV okay...

The industry is cheating us by not putting up such information on the web sites. I found your answer. You need other software...

Hi It sounds like possibly there is stray RF getting into your video signal from your DVD/VCR combo to your tv. Check that your cables are ok, but also, if you can, try moving the unit in relation to the tv, if it is underneath, try putting it on top or beside the tv, I've seen the effect you describe be cause by lack of sheilding in both the tv and DVD/VCR, and moving the unit could cure it. Good Luck!

My camera did the exact same thing. I called Canon tech support and they advised to unplug power cord, remove large main battery, and remove smallbackup battery. The small back up battery is under a small door under the main backup battery. With everything disconnected, turn camera to "camera" and then to "vcr" and then to off. Wait a few seconds. Put everything back together and try to eject again. The tech said that resets all the mechanical parts. However, it did not work for me. They now want me to send it to them for a paid repair. I have done some research on the internet and this is a VERY commom problem and it usually costs about $150 to correct via Cannon. Many times the problem occurs again. I am very very frustrated. I pulled my camera out last night to get it ready as my wife is 9months into her pregnancy. Now, I have to send my camera away for 5-9 days. Really really upset.
