SOURCE: I have a Elna Air Electronic TSP machine and are
Hi Anne-Marie, I believe your TSP would look like this one below?
there is a manual available for download at www.diplodocs.com, just search with "Elna 58 tsp" and you should find it.
There is also a great website in the USA, www.whitesewingcenter.com where there is lots of Swiss Elna manuals, accessories and spare parts for sale, really great resource as Tavaro SA no longer operates and the current Elnas are made in Asia. They do sell O/S but you may need to pay by bank draft.
I trust that this helps you with your TSP, it was a well made machine.

SOURCE: elna tsp air electronic 58 will not zig zag stitch
Firstly will it sew any stitches that require the needle to swing from side to side? the serpentine stitch or blind hem stitch?
As this machine is now 20+ years old (but a beautifully made Swiss Elna, don't junk it) I must ask firstly has it had a full service recently?
What can happen with these (and many machines if left for a bit) is that the needle bar bearings will sieze up and the needle won't swing from side to side. It can certainly be fixed if this is the case, I've done it with a TSP and a SU Air Electronic machine.
Other possibility is that the spring that pulls the neeld bar back to position may have broken. Check this as follows. Set stitch width dial to 4, stitch selector to zig zag and press the needle bar to the right, place your finger high on the bar, not down on the needle itself. If it moves to the right freely, then release it and it should move back to centre itself if the spring is there.
If the bar does spring back slowly and the machine hasn't been serviced for some time; then good chance its the bearings. You may want to take it for a full service as a technician can check out the timing also as well as giving it a full clean and lube internally.

you could try www.Scribed.com or www.diplodocs.com for this one free, otherwise pretty sure it can be purchased at www.sewingpartsonline.com or relics which is www.sewing-machine-manuals.com.
Should be a blue or brown cover I think from memory.
SOURCE: I have an elna airelectronic tsp machine & cannot thread bobbin. Please help
Firstly, have you got an Elna metal bobbin? it should be solid on the bottom and have 7 holes on top. It is essential that you always use it this way, wind it with the holes on top and load it into the bobbin holder the same way.
Have a look at the image above, you need to load the bobbin in and click the thread into the tension spring so it doesn't lift back out when you pull the thread upwards. There should be an audible click as it goes in.
If you can't get it right or this image is just too small, feel free to email me and I'll send you the image and talk you through it, I have a TSP machine too. [email protected].
Also, check my tip on bobbin winding here http://www.fixya.com/support/r10598580-winding_bobbin_correctly it is important to get a good even tension onto your bobbin as you wind the thread on, you may need to manually add some tension to the thread as it winds off the spool, as I've described in my tip. I sold these machines for Elna and customers would bring them in complaining of problems with their machine. Almost aways, it was the needle in backwards, bobbin upside down, thread/lint buildup in the bobbin race or badly wound bobbin that was the problem.
Hope this helps you Gaylene, but if not, please email, I may be able to send you the relevant manual pages.
