How to Remove Drill Chuck
If there is screw in inside center of chuck remove it, it is probably left hand threads so pretend you are tightening it and it will come free. open chuck fully and insert chuck key into holes and hit it with a hammer to remove it.

SOURCE: drill chuck removal

The screw should be left hand thread and the chuck is normal thread. The 'workshop' way to remove the chuck is to remove the screw (done). If the jaws are still working then clamp a sturdy allen key in it and whack it against a workbench to unscrew the chuck. If holding the drill in the normal position you would stand with the workbench to your left and whack it down on that. If the jaws aren't working then you can grip the body in a vice and use large pipe grips or stiltsons on the chuck. Also check to see if the chuck spindle will accept a thin spanner to hold it, as this is a slightly more caring way to brace the spindle. Then you can can hold the spanner in the vice and use the allen key in the chuck and unscrew it that way.

SOURCE: hitachi cordless drill, removing chuck

Replacing the chuck on a drill is simple when you know the trick. I worked at a tool rental center while attending college and learned how to repair many tools. Open the chuck enough to remove the screw that you will see inside the chuck. It will most likely be reverse thread. The chuck is threaded on the shaft so just simply close the chuck on an allen socket and impact off with air or electric impact tool. If you do not have an impact tool close the chuck on-to the largest allen wrench that will fit into the chuck.(with the long part of the allen wrench projecting out) You will need to set the drill into a vise or strap to work-bench, then strike allen with hammer. Most chucks are removed with one quick impact of the hammer, counter clockwise. Do not squeese the drill too tightly with vise, we used a piece of leather to protect the drill. Good luck. Enjoy

SOURCE: how to remove chuck from drill press

I just looked at a breakdown for this tool and it is not that clear. But to get an owners manual you can go to Searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number and look at the same schematici I did and also order a manual for about 7.50. Usually though on a drill press like that it would be a morse taper. Do you see a slot cut thru the spindle on both sides, if so there should be a tapered key that came with the unit. In that case what you would need to do it put the key in the slot and tap it with a hammer to remove the adaptor and chuck. Let me know if I can help further

SOURCE: remove a chuck from a skill drill

If it's anything like their other drills, there is a safety screw with left-hand threads inside chuck.

  1. Uncscrew screw CLOCKWISE until loose.
  2. Then insert the short arm of a 3/8" hex wrench and tighten.
  3. Strike long arm of wrench sharply counter-clockwise and chuck should loosen to unthread from spindle.

SOURCE: How to remove the chuck of Black & Decker Drill BD154R?

You need to open the chuck and remove the bolt from the bottom of it[usually a #2 phillips].The next step is to insert a 5/16 allen wrench into the chuck and tighten the chuck.Hold the drill with the chuck facing away from you then strike the allen wrench with a hammer on the right side[so it goes down] and now you will be able to remove it by hand, good luck.

How to remove chuck from hitachi d10vf

Remove the left handed screw from inside the chuck then lay the machine on it's left side, fit a suitable spanner onto the slot behind the chuck and arrange it so that the spanner is against the work surface. Put the chuck key into the chuck and give it a hard blow so you knock it in an anti clockwise direction. If it is a keyless chuck or you don't have a key try holding the short end of a large allen key in the chuck and knock the long end in a anticlockwise direction. This will work even if you don't have a spanner to fit behind the chuck but you might have to hit it harder. If you have a vise after removing the screw hold the chuck in a vice and fit the spanner behind the chuck and turn it anti clockwise.

I have a hitachi dv18dl and the chuck is broken i just need to no what type of screw is in the chuck so i can remove it? thanks

THE CHUCK SCREW IS EITHER A TORX BIT, POSSIBLE 20 TORX OR ITS A PHILIPS OR SLOTTED SCREW, REMEMBER THE SCREW IS LEFT HAND THREAD AND ALLOT OF THE TIMES IS LOCTITED IN SO IT DOESN'T UNSCREW WHEN THE ITEM IN THE CHUCK SLIPS AND RUBS ON THE TOP OF IT. IT SHOULD REMOVE FAIRLY EASY!! MAKE SURE WHEN REMOVING THE CHUCK THE TOOL IS IN LOW GEAR/ DRILL MODE OR YOU WILL FIGHT IT FOREVER AND POSSIBLY DOEING DAMAGE TO THE CLUTCH/TRANNY ASSY. THE CHUCK WILL UNSCREW STANDARD THREAD, SHOULD BE A 2 MINUTE PROSSES TO REMOVE THE CHUCK UNLESS ITS ON REALLY HARD. JIMS TOOL SERVICE

How do you remove the chuck from a Craftsman Model #315.11441 3/8 vsr corded drill? Am trying to remove the chuck but I believe there is some type of a set screw or locking mechanism that needs to be undone. I can see a slotted screw head in the chuck Looking straight down on it but it is very tight and I don't want to break it or a screwdriver forcing it. Thanks for input. Bob

On a model 315.101231 3/8 corded drill I need to remove the keyless chuck how do I do that?

If you open the chuck as far as it will go and look inside you may see the head of a screw, especially if the drill is reversible. So undo the screw and then you should be able to unscrew the chuck. But I am not sure if it will be easy to unscrew. With a keyed chuck you use the key and a hammer to unscrew the chuck.

Need to replace chuck

Not entirely familiar with this model but most chucks are secured by a screw inside the chuck. Open the the chuck to its fullest aperture and look inside. There should be a centre screw ... it will be a left hand thread. Remove the screw. Hold the chuck firmly, reverse the drill. The chuck should unscrew from the shaft. Installation is a reversal of the removal procedure.

Trying to remove a jacobs key less chuck 500 series fitted to a DS18DL Hitachi drill

It twists off counter clock wise. The best way I have found to remove the chuck is to stick a screw driver into the chuck, tighten the chuck, hold the screw driver in some type of vise and run it all full speed in reverse

How to remove the keyless chuck from a hitachi dv18dl?

The screw mentioned in solution number one is a left hand thread once you have removed it use an allen hey in the hole the screw came out of as if undoing a normal right hand thread a scarp blow with a hammer may be neccesary. then do the opposite when installing new chuck
