Can not connect to a secure network! I use the correct pass key. Tech person from Verizon spent over an hour and determined it isn't Verizon, it is the lap top. Apparently I can connect to wifi wireless unsecure networks, however.
Delete the previous wireless connection than changed the key in router and than try to connect.
Hello
Three things cause this in VISTA. First the laptop's MAC address is being rejected by the secure network. In which case you'll need to find out why from the administrator of the secured network. Second, when you first took your laptop to a local coffee shop did you select HOME or WORK network. VISTA has a problem in that if you selected WORK and you then go to your HOME network it won't stop seeing the WORK selection. The only cure I've come accross is to do a SFC/scanow at the CMD prompt. The third cause is a virus. Although VISTA doesn't get many viruses, when it does they cause outstanding problems. Download AVGFREE, MALWARE BYTES and SUPERANTISPYWARE. They all work in VISTA and you'll be surprise what they find.
