Double check that the power cable is _fully_ plugged into the phone base, then check to see that power cable is fully plugged into wall outlet; and/or fully plugged into phone wall outlet. (Some base units have no power adapter and get their power from the phone outlet on the wall). In short, double check _all_ wired connections. Do not assume they are fully plugged in.
Try disconnecting the base from the power supply. Then take the battery out. wait a few minues, then plug baack in and reinsert the battery, and it should work. You might have to reset the date and time. \check the V-Tech site for instructions.Good luck. cherriwh

Move the handset closer to the telephone base. You might have moved out of range.

What I suggest is not just powering it off, but remove battery and wait a couple of minutes. Put battery back in and try it. The other thing I suggest is a new battery or switching it temporarily with a phone that works, to see if that helps before you buy a new one. If the battery is weak it will have trouble reaching the base.
• Unplug the base unit’s electrical power and remove the battery from the handset. Wait for 15 seconds then plug in the battery place the handset in the base unit and plug in the power. Allow up to one minute for the cordless handset and base to synchronize
