SOURCE: Minn Kota 80lb 24V Trolling Motor

I had the same problem and found the oring/seal had let water into the motor. I believe it overheats or draws too many amps when wet? New seals fixed mine but I had to replace the bearing because it had been doing this for a while and the bearing had rusted out.

SOURCE: motor won't run

Look at the red indicator arrow when you hit the foot pedal. If it lights up, the motor should run. If not, inspect the splices under the top cover on the shaft. They will stop the motor if corroded or burnt.

SOURCE: Mounting a sonor/transducer on a MinnKota Riptide ST

Did the unit come with a strap to mount the transducer to a bow mount electric? Most units do... If not there is probably one available for the unit as an aftermarket accessory or accessory from the manufacturer... Regarding the transducer wire, just wrap and rout this up the front of the bow mount motor shaft so when you pull the motor up and secure it, it is not going to get in the way. You could cable tie the cord down near the bottom of the shaft and one up near the top where they wont interfere with the motor bracket when the motor is positioned up on the boat.

remove the nut and the prop will come right off. Just be careful not to loose the shear pin.

SOURCE: Why does my Minn Kota Vantage trolling motor act up.

If this is a foot control model, try cleaning the connection where it plugs up. I have cleaned mine but I still have to fidget with it every time to get it to work right.

24 volt trolling motor (motorguide) not working. Have 24 volts at receptacle in hull of boat but when I plug in the trolling motor and check the volts on the plug, I only read 6 volts. Any idea whats...

You have a high resistance short either inside the wiring or the lower unit. This will cause a voltage drop. I would be very careful not to keep it connected too long cuz the battery is trying to keep up with the current demand and may explode.

I don't have any slow trolling speeds. Only fast speeds on my Pro Series 6700 trolling motor. Any ideas? Also, it is a 24 volt system. How do I properly hook up the batteries. The two batteries are...

To hook up to 24 volts you need to join a positive cable from one battery to the source[motor or controller] and the the negative cable goes to the positive of the next of the next battery, then the negative [of battery #2] goes to ground, same for all 24 volt systems. If the slower speeds don't work then the rheostat in the accelerator handle could be at fault, but getting the 24 volts sorted out may fix everything.

Converting From 12/24 to Starght 24 Volt

if it is 24v. then you need to connect 2 battery in parallel. since the battery is only 12v.
if one battery is shoing red and the other is sohwing green, that means you are using 12v only, not the 24v.
connetion as follow:
positve of battery 1 to the motor, the negative of battery 1 to postive of battery 2. the negative of battery 2 to the motor.
