I am trying to sign up a new Microsoft account but I keep on getting error code 0x80048823

Signing in to the Microsoft account may fail if the phone date is not correct. It may also fail if the network connection is not working properly or if you are trying to create a new Microsoft account with a live.com email address. You may also be asked to verify your identity before the Microsoft account can be set up. Here's what you need to do to rectify the issue:
Check the time settings and the network connection.

1. Go to Settings > date+time and manually set the correct time zone, date and time. Try signing in again.
2. If the above action doesn't solve the problem, connect to a Wi-Fi network and try signing in via that network.

If you see a message 'Can't connect'

1. If this happens during the initial setup, skip the account setup wizard by tapping sign in later.
2. Update your phone in Settings > phone update > check for updates.
3. Once your phone is updated, select Settings > email+accounts > add an account and tapMicrosoft account.
4. If you already have an account you use with Xbox, Windows 8, Outlook.com, Skype or another Microsoft service, then you should tap sign in. If not, tap create one. Complete the on-screen form to get a new Outlook.com email address or tap use an existing email address.
5. If you are asked to verify your identity with a security code, choose the verification option (text, call or email) and then follow the screen instructions.

If you get an error code

• Use your browser, try searching online to find a support article for the error code.
• If still not able to sign in using your phone, check with browser that you can successfully sign in with your account, or create a new account.

If you manage to sign in but your Microsoft account is not working properly

• Check that you have given your birth date correctly in the account settings. If the birth date indicates that you are a child, there are limitations with your Microsoft account.

[Fix] Mail Apps and Devices Show Incorrect Password Error After Enabling 2-Step Verification in Microsoft or Gmail Account "2-step verification" is an important security feature which protects your online account whether its your email account or a social networking account. It asks for an extra security code each time you try to sign in to your account. This security code is sent to your registered mobile phone or alternative email ID.
Recently Microsoft enabled this 2-step verification feature for Microsoft accounts which are used for emails, Windows 8, XBox, etc. On the other hand Google is already providing two-step verification in its Gmail service since long time.
If you enabled 2-step verification feature in your Microsoft or Gmail account, you might be facing a weird issue. If you try to access your email account using an email client such as Windows Live Mail, Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, etc, it'll now allow you to sign in using your current password. It'll immediately provide you a new password which can be used in any mail app or device to sign in.PS: If you want to remove or disallow any mail app or device to access your account, you can remove existing app password or revoke access from devices using the same account security settings pages as mentioned in above instructions.

Solutions
Solution 1: Did you recently sign up for two-step verification?
If you recently turned on two-step verification, you may not know how to sign in to apps or devices that don't accept security codes. Some apps (like the mail apps on some smartphones) and devices (like the Xbox 360) can't prompt you to enter a security proof when you try to sign in. If you get an incorrect-password error with an app or device, you'll need to create a unique app password to sign in. Solution 2: Verify your Microsoft account security informationFollow these steps:

1. Visit Microsoft account.
   Note If you forgot your password or can't sign in using your password, reset your password.
2. Click Edit security info.
3. Verify your security information. For example, verify the Phone number, Alternate email address, and Security question information.
4. Sign out of your Microsoft account and then sign in again.
5. Try to sign in to Xbox Live again.

• You will need to login to https://account.live.com/ Then you will be asked to verify your account

• Finally check you computer for viruses as you password may be been stolen to send spam.

try this file you will need to download to fix the error 0x80004004 http://tinyurl.com/28mpcfo, this error 0x80048823 is a possible password Locked out on the account try ressetting your password or something.

I get the error sometimes that the servers are unavailable I just wait a few hours and it seems to work. Try upgrading to the latest version of you don't have it already.

1. Hit "run" in the start menu
2. Type "regedit"
3. Open "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger"
4. Delete the folder called MSN Messenger
5. After this MSN Messenger Live will login as normal.
