Ther is a micro switch inside the machine that likely has to be replaced, and/or the "0" position of feed dogs inside the open arm, have to be reset and calibrated by a Bernina Technician

I'm assuming you've already reset the stitch and width settings back to the settings before the malfunction began-that would be step one. If your machine is computerised and step 1 doesn't work, try switching the machine off and remove the plug from the power supply. This may reset the machine. If that doesn't work you may have a damaged gear and will need a mechanic.

Your owner's manual should tell you what type needles your machine uses. According to this site, 130/705 needles will work with your machine, are also very common, and are available in several brands: Schmetz, Janome, Organ, etc.

Depends on your machine, but remember if your machine has a 5mm needleplate opening, that limits the size of the lettering you will be able to produce. Unfortunately, to get larger output, you would need to upgrade to an embroidery machine or do the lettering manually with a satin stitch. You can, after practicing, do monogramming free hand with your machine and a satin stitch. However, remember, if the stitch width is limited, even satin stitch will still be limited by that stitch width.

Since your machine is brand new, it is under warranty. Take it back to the dealer you purchased it from and have them repair it. If you try any repairs yourself, or by a 3rd party, that will probably void your warranty.

There is no reverse button, it is a lever.The stitch length lever also reverses the feed dogs - when down, it runs forward - at zero, it does not feed at all and when moved up, it reverses the machine. Set your stitch length by loosening the thumbscrew on the vertically moving lever and sliding the plate into position while moving the lever up to the desired mark. Tighten the screw and move the lever down to sew - to reverse just move the lever up until it hits the stop to sew the same stitch length in reverse.

When you press the level the machine goes in reverse. When you turn the dail to O it goes in reverse. The dail is somehow out of alinement and that is what I am searching for the adjustment that would bring the machine to O and the adjustment that would lengthen the stitch forward. When I push teh level for reverse it does go in reverse. I guess the question would be if you would like to lengthen the stitch further than the dail currectly allows how do you do that. THanks!
