UPDATE: Turned unit off, waited 5 mins, turned back on, set temp to COOL @ 72, fan on high and waited 2 hours. Went back and noticed the air flowing out of the front duct was very cold and the # in the top, center of the unit said 73...excellent! Unfortunately, it got cloudy at 3pm and the temp outside never got over 81 all day. It's 7pm now, temp of air still feels very cold so we must put every thing on "hold" to see how this turns out tomorrow. Will be back then with another update...hopefully the temp at the opposite end of the one large, room up there will be no warmer than 74. Linda @ 7pm Thursday 9/21/17
So you are trying to cool a two story home with a portable air conditioner??

Testimonial: "No, Mr. Woodburn. The 2nd floor of my home. It's a story and a half. Downstairs = 1,400 sq. Upstairs: 500 sq. feet. Used for storage only. Went up just now and the air coming out of the blower feels very cold :) and the temp on the top of the unit said "74"...it has cooled down in the past hour or so, but it still needs to read "72-74" on the opposite side of that big room up there. No walls either by the way. Hope this helps you to help me! Maybe I need to wait until 5pm so it has another 2 1/2 hrs to get the temp up to at least 74, however, if that temp doesn't STAY at that level, I'm going to be very upset. Thanks, Mr. Woodburn! We only keep it around 74-75 downstairs as my new HVAC heat pump is uber efficient! Linda in NC 2:45pm"
Your 14000 btu unit is only going to cool a maximum of approximately 500 sqft. Couple that with the second floor of the home and that machine can't handle it. The unit is not big enough.
We are going to build a wall with a door in it that will separate the 525+ sq foot area upstairs. THAT will more than solve the problem but the unit itself WORKS GREAT!!! :)

SOURCE: inside tem. can not reach the set tem. during the cool days
check the presure switch jump it out and see if it fires all the time

This unit is sized to approx a 35 square metres area at a normal 2.4 metre ceiling height. All I would recomend without actually seeing the problem is to check this measurement and close all windows and doors. The unit is most likely undersized, but check the air temp coming off the unit. It should be about 10 degrees.

The rule of thumb is 20F difference (lower) than ambient temperature. Most manufacturers will tell you 20 F degress is about normal. In your case it does sound a little warm, but I need to ask, sorry. Was it working o.k. before in same basic temperatures? Have you cleaned coils & fins good on Evaporator & condenser recently? Have you removed filter inside & cleaned it as well, and looked to see if coils are frosting up by chance? Is this a ducted or non ducted system? I'm guessing on a 5th wheel, it is ducted, so make sure you have good discharge on all of those as well. Any blockage or restriction on the discharge side will also cause the problem. Keep me posted on what you find.

Low voltage wiring problem.check wiring diagram/converson chart carefully as the termnal letters vary by brand of unit.make sure color code is correct btween each appliance itself.good luck!

This appears to be a low charge. you should see a 15-20 degree split between the discharge venting and the return air venting.

As I said, the unit is not big enough. But, I must add, the faster the air is moving the warmer it will be when cooling. Kinda tricky but if you gently blow across an ice cube the air that passes over that cube has more time to cool rather than if you blew across that cube as if you were trying to blow out a candle. This means, try not having the fan speed on high. Best Wishes!!
Wow...I didn't know that, sir! By the way...you never said anything about my unit not being large enough. You only asked if I was trying to cool a 2-story house with the unit upstairs. Anyway, I appreciate that and will turn the fan to LOW immediately! Right now the temp is @ 72 up there but the sun is getting much stronger so I need to act fast!
Again..thanks for this advice but according to the ads for what I purchased for over $500, this unit is the right size for a room 500 square feet so I don't understand why you even say that. I think you've got me mixed up with someone else. :)
Will update this again before 9pm tonight. I'm checking it every 2 hours up there.
