Check the oil level, these generators have an oil monitoring system that prevents the engine running if the oil isn't all the way up to the bottom of the threads in the oil fill hole.
SOURCE: I need to know the procedure in starting a Coleman
I'm not familiar with this particular generator but starting most of these is pretty much the same.
Turn all switches to the generator OFF locate the Carbuerator and put the choke on if it has a small bulb pump it a few times, now here is a trick I use I buy a can of starter fluid and spray a quick spray close to the air intake or air filter. This should work.

Dump ALL old fuel out of tank, you might have got a clog in the fuel line, carburator, fuel valve. Remove carb bottom Sediment bowl then spray Carb cleaner thru the gas inlet AT the carb 3-4 secs CAUTION: KEEP YOUR HEAD BACK.. that cleaner hurts if you get it in your eyes... and NEVER SPRAY A HOT ENGINE (np with yours tho no start) Refill tank with NEW fuel (or strained at least if emergency remote repair) Place a suitable catch container over gas inlet line to carb (at carb) open fuel valve chk for fuel FLOWING (no dripping) into container. replace fuel line to carb start as normal
if not firing still chk that spark plug, might need cleaning now that rest is ok.

Field Flashing of Portable Generators
This tip comes from the Briggs & Stratton Customer Education
Department. As an alternative to flashing a rotor winding with a
battery applied to the brushes, an electric drill may be used. Follow
these steps to flash the generator:
Use caution not to get your hand or other materials caught in the
chuck. As soon as the field is excited, the generator will produce
power and the drill will turn on.
The reason this works is because the electric motor in the drill will
act as a small generator when spun backwards. The magnets in the
drill's motor induce a voltage into the motor windings, which is fed
back through the trigger, cord and into the generators receptacle. From
there it goes into the power winding of the stator. The voltage going
through the power winding creates a magnetic field, which is
intensified due to the iron core of the stator laminations. The rotor
intersects this magnetic field as it is spun past the power winding,
thus inducing a voltage in the rotor winding. Once current flow is
present in the rotor winding the rotor has been flashed.
If flashing the field does not make the generator work, you may have
additional problems, besides a lack of magnetism in the rotor. Further
testing will be needed. Hopefully, this will give a simple way to field
flash your generator if needed - Bruce Perrault

Hello, If your generator has sat for a long time, the residual magnetism in the field coil may have dissipated completely this will cause the generator to produce no electricity. If this is the case there is a fix that is so simple it will amaze you by how easy it is to get it running properly again. The process is called flashing the field and it is done with an electric corded drill. Here is a link on how to do it. http://www.perr.com/tip16.html I hope this helps. If my solution works for you would you kindly give me a positive rating. Thank you, Michael Burke
