Unfortunately you cannot insert your USB modem into your Wii and have it recognized. Your Wii does not have the ability to operate plug and play devices in the way that your lap top does. The Wii needs to be hooked up to a LAN (local area network) via a wireless G connection from a wireless router or wireless capable modem, or hard wired to a modem or router with an ethernet cable (looks like a big phone wire).

There is a way to share your lap tops internet connection using an ethernet switch (depending on your operating system). If this is an option that you wish to explore and you have the necessary hardware, re-post asking how to set up a shared internet connection using a computer as a residential gateway. Depending on your operating system this can be done quite easily. You will need a computer with an internet connection (which you have), a 10/100 Ethernet switch, and two Ethernet cables. A switch is relatively inexpensive and the wires are as well.

I hope that this helps you with your problem.

Good Luck!

Where is the place you can put the internet connector in to ? is it on the back of the console or is it on the top i cant find it please help me

The wii does not come with an ethernet port (or place to connect to wired internet) built in. It's primary internet connection is through wifi or wireless internet. A USB adapter can be bought (like these) Those plug into the back of the console in the usb port.

I wish to use internet for my wii yet my alltel wireless huawei cannot connect directly. ive tried using a lan adapter hooked into the wii and an ethernet cable hooked from that to a router, then using...

Turn on the wii, go to settings, go over until you see stuff about internet... select it and from there add your network, type in your password, put your encryption type, and security like WPA or WEP...... You just have to make that your connection and click test connection if everything goes through select use network and enjoy internet on your wii = )

How to connect to the net it keeps saying error

First you must have an active internet connection, second you must have a router (if you are trying to connect multiple items to the internet I.E. your computer AND the Wii), Third you have to determine whether your router is a wireless one or not, if it is then all is great, click on the Wii button in the bottom left corner, click on Wii settings, click on the right pointing arrow to go to page 2 of the settings, click on internet, click on connection settings, click on connection 1 (should say [none] next to it if it doesn't then you might want to clear the settings) click on wireless connection, click on manual setup, enter the SSID, enter the encryption key when asked for it then you should be good to go unless your router's security settings need changing. If you are trying to connect through a wired connection, then you need some other equipment... my Wii doesn't have an ethernet port, just an sd card port, memory card ports, and a couple USB ports, so I assume you need either a usb-ethernet adaptor or a router with a usb port. I've never connected a Wii over anything but a wireless connection so I could be wrong with regard to a wired connection.

Unable to connect to internet

Error Code: 51420 The Wii console is not able to connect to your wired router or modem.

  1. If your connection worked previously, check to see if there is a Wii System Update that you have not aquired. To get the latest Wii System Update:
    1. From the Wii's main menu, select the Wii icon along the bottom left of the screen.
    2. Select "Wii Settings".
    3. Click the left arrow to get to Wii System Settings 3
    4. Choose "Wii System Update"
    5. Choose "Yes" to connect to the internet and perform a Wii system update.

  2. Make sure that you are using the Wii LAN Adapter made by Nintendo (click here for a picture and connection steps). LAN adapters not made by Nintendo likely will not work with the Wii console.

  3. Check to make sure you are not running the Wii LAN Adapter from a USB hub (a device that connects multiple USB products through a single device), as this will likely not work. Connect the USB Connector directly to the modem or router.

  4. Ensure that the Wii LAN Adapter setup is correct, and that the Wii LAN Adapter was connected with the console turned off. For step by step connection instructions, please click here.

  5. Check to see if the ethernet cable you are using is not working properly, by connecting another ethernet cable from your router/modem to the Wii LAN Adapter. If the connection works using a different cable, then the problem was with the first cable.

I cant get on to the internet

o.k I to at first did not know how to get on the internet but it is not too hard.

first there is only two ways to get on the internet using the Nintendo Wii.

(1) you can easily connect to internet if you have a wireless connection in your home.

(2) you must purchase a USB Ethernet adapter. this adapter plugs into the USB port on the back of the Wii. You then must have a router with a port available. Run the Ethernet cable from the Wii connector to your available port on your router.

For either connection you then go into your Wii options ang continue into settings on your Wii. make sure you then chose the arrow to go to the next page. Click internet, connection settings, click connection 1 to set up. chose wired or wireless connection, It will then initiate a test and if all is good you will now have internet connection.

if you still have problems visit the wii website

here is a demo :

or heres the link:http://us.wii.com/connect/

this should help you!

Can i put my alltel usb card in the usb port in back of the wii to connect to the internet

No. The Wii has it's own wireless network card but it unfortunately won't work with a satellite network like that.

Connecting my wii to the internet

to connect your wii to the internet connect to the following link or read the following instructions
http://systemsetup.nintendo.com.au/Connecting_Online

to connect your wii to the internet you will need to provide a wireless internet access point for it to find. you will need:

a computer connected to broadband internet
a wireless router OR Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector OR Wii LAN Adapter
your wii console to be nearby all of the above

If you are using the LAN Adapter you must plug the USB connection into the back of your wii console and the other end to your internet modems ethernet port. (follow steps below)

if you are using a wireless connection follow steps below.

Turn on your wii and on the main menu select 'wii' in the bottom left hand corner
On the next screen, select 'wii settings'
In the 'Wii System Settings', click on the blue arrow on the right to reach the second screen of options. On this screen, click the 'Internet' button.
Select 'connection settings'
select an open connection indicated by 'none'
select the corresponding option, Wired or Wireless connection

Wired:
(follow steps below)

Wireless:
Select the corresponding option, Search for an access point or Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector
the wii will search for an access point, select the access point you wish to connect to, and save the settings

The wii will now do a test connection and do a system update, the wii will now use that connection point to acces the online services

hope i helped!!
