Your stitches may be too far apart. But, most likely the issue is that the tensions are not correct. If one thread lays in a smooth straight line on the fabric, the other thread tension is too loose, ie the bobbin thread lays on the fabric and the top thread is going all the way through the fabric and shows on the bobbin side, then the top tension needs to be tightened. The tensions are correct when both threads meet in the middle of the fabric.

Try some metal bobbins, #15 or SA 156. that seems to help. If, you don't have a manual go to brother.com and download one for free

I need a little more detail, was it working ok and feeding the fabric through, then stopped moving? How is your top tension? Set at 3 or 4? No thread caught in the bobbin area? What is your stitch length? What kind of fabric, and what size needle? See, there a lot of things that I need to know in order to help you, Please give as much detail as you can when stating your problem, don't forget, we can't see what you are doing,

Bobbin thread being too loose is due to two possible factors. The upper thread may be too loose allowing the bobbin thread to pull it under the fabric, or the upper thread may be too tight in which the bobbin thread will pull up to the top. Try adjusting the top tension to see if you can correct it. If it doesn't fix the problem, take out the bobbin and look for a screw on the bobbin case. If your bobbin case comes out from the underside of your machine, the screw is on the side. If yours is a drop in bobbin, it will usually be under the faceplate so you might have to take that off too to get to it. Turn the screw clockwise to tighten the bobbin, counterclockwise to loosen it. Only go a quarter of a turn at a time so you won't overshoot the mark. Then try by re-threading and sewing. The basic procedure for threading is as follows:---------- Note that Pfaff sewing machines thread from left to right, not right to left like other sewing machines. The upper tension discs should be raised at their highest position while threading, and the presser foot should be raised up until you thread the needle. Drop the presser foot right before you thread the needle. The prevents thread problems during use.-------------

  • Insert a full bobbin and retrieve the bobbin thread through the thread plate. Raise your sewing foot and needle to its highest position; hold the needle thread taught with your left hand, lower the needle into the thread plate using your right hand, and then raise the needle. As you raise the needle, the needle thread will catch the bobbin thread, and pull it up. There should be a loop of thread intertwined with the needle thread. Use tweezers, your finger, or a straight pin to retrieve the bobbin thread that is visible through the thread plate, and pull it through the plate.Place the fabric under the presser foot, and drop the presser foot. Choose the stitch you want to use from the top stitch display, right above the top thread feed. Press the '0-9" button located on the sewing machine's front panel, and a display screen will come up. Input the thread number, and press the 'OK' button located on the sewing machine's front panel.-----------this is procedure.

If problem persists.Remove bobbin and clean lint from bobbin and re-tight the bobbin properly, then check. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Repair tips for my SE400 sewing machine, bobbin troubles. Large loops in thread and bobbin locking

Hi, could be the upper tension is incorrect. Clean out bobbin race from entanglement. Use a new needle and rethread. Make sure that the thread is new too, and that the upper tension, needle size and thread thickness are compatible with the thickness of material sewn.
    Hope this helps. :-)

    Bobbin thread is jamming machine

it indicates that you have a situation called " bird nesting" and that is a result of the needle thread tension being too loose
needle tension should be tight so that when you pull the thread to thread the needle you have to exert a bit of effort to pull the thread through the tension plates
you can adjust up or down from that feeling
thread thickness affects the tension and needle eye size also affects the tension as a small eye on large thread makes the thread movement hard indicating less tension or a big eye on a small thread affects the tension as the thread slips easily and needs more tension to pull the bobbin thread up to the centre of the material being sewn

What is the factory tension setting for the Brother LS-2125i sewing machine?

you probably wont find it listed anywhere as it is from experience and changes with different material thickness and needle size
    SO how to set tension
thread the machine and adjust the tension until you feel a drag on the thread
now thread the needle and sew a piece of scrap material
if the thread bunches up underneath then increase the thread tension until it sews properly
if the bottom thread is pulled to the top or the thread keeps breaking loosen ti off a bit
when the stitch is being properly formed , both bottom and top threads should meet at the center of the two materials being sewn

How do i thread my needle with the singer handy stitch?

    1. Loosen needle screw & insert needle with shank's flat side facing front of machine. Push needle in all the way, then tighten screw to hold needle in place.
    2. Install a fully wound bobbin by loosening bobbin nut & placing bobbin on top. Re-attach bobbin nut & tighten. If standard thread spool will be used, then attach spool pin to bobbin shaft & place thread spool onto shaft. Attach white spool cap on end of thread spool, then tighten. Bobbin/spool should unwind facing forward toward needle.
    3. Bring end of thread through thread guides & over tension control. Pass end of thread through needle eye, from back to front, & pull it out about two inches.
    4. A spring pushes pressor foot onto fabric that is being sewn, so lift pressor foot & place fabric underneath.
    5. Turn large handwheel on side of machine (handwheel can be turned in either direction) to raise needle arm to its highest position.
    6. Holding the Handy Stitch in place with your right hand, press on power switch & begin sewing. Guide fabric (being sewn) with your left hand.
    7. To end this sewing session, turn off power. Turn handwheel to raise needle to its highest position. Carefully pull out about three inches of thread through needle & snip, then lift pressor foot to remove fabric. Turn fabric over & loop needle threader through last stitch. Place end of thread from underside through eye of needle threader, & pull to loop through. Pull to tighten and snip end of thread.

I get loops on top and/or bottom of fabric during sewing. I have tried to adjust upper thread tension without any success. On brother website it is said that it might be lower tension or incorrect bobbin...

Top tension back to 4 and leave the bobbin tension as is.

Make sure you have a new needle for the type of fabric being sewn installed with the flat side to the back of the machine. A bent needle can sometimes go unnoticed.

Always thread the machine with the presser foot up and this will give proper tension to the stitch.

Check the manual to be sure you are threading correctly (always with the presser foot up) and that the bobbin thread is feeding in the correct direction from the bobbin spool and through the guides.

Take hold of the thread at the needle as you lower and raise the needle to pull up the bobbin thread. Take both thread ends under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.
