LG 60pb5600. Second time I've heard a pop, this time it died. I heard a pop and the power LED light flashed on and off. Turned the tv back on, it turns on for a second and then goes dark.

I opened the set. I visually inspected all of the caps (none are bulged or busted), tested to make sure my fuses are good (they are), and checked for IC shorts on the ybuffer board (none). Video: https://youtu.be/bjaZ5jdm_P4

If the power supply outputs are good! Then I would say the back light inverter is bad! If the screen stays black and does not come on.

Change out C202- 680 uF 25 Volt electrolytic capacitor. Replace with 25 volt or higher. Observe proper polarity when replacing cap: (-) goes to the side with the black mark, check old cap before removing it to see. I just fixed the same monitor today.

SOURCE: LG 42 Plasma try's to turn on but just goes back into "stanby" ?

Check to see if you get Va and Vs voltages from the power supply. There should be some wires running to the y-sus. A couple of those wires will be labeled va and vs. Are they present? There will be a sticker stuck to the panel somewhere telling you what they should be.

My tv shuts off than the power light flashes

You may need to buy a new lamp (bulb) for your TV. We didn't know what was going on with our Sony WEGA when it just shut off and the power light flashed. The next day we heard two different "pops" and the picture died. Did a Google search, found a new lamp, and installed it. Works fine now. Good luck!

Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player.

Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours.
