The outside unit is not working on my Heil Air conditioner

I have a Heil furnace air condition I purchased in 2002. The outside unit is not working with the thermostat reading cool and run. I pushed the reset button and hold at the same time but the outside unit won't come on, only the fan runs.

I have an attic fan. Is it part of the system? Does it need servicing? Does any part of the central air system use batteries?

Thanks,
Karen

Mine is a Heil Performance 10. It was just because the shaft on the fan was gummed up. I took the cover off the outside fan and lifted it up. There is a service plug in the motor housing where the shaft goes into the motor. I put some oil in there and put it back together. Working fine now. This may not be your problem but easy to try. Hope it helps.

The attic fan is not a part of your a/c system, and you should not run it while you are running the a/c. If you are currently using the attic fan, it is possible that someone wired it so that the a/c won't turn on while the attic fan is on. Otherwise if the thermostat is set below room temp, and says it is calling for cool, then the problem is most likely coming from an issue at the outside unit itself. Make sure to check your fuses, at the fuse panel and outside breaker. Hope this helps

FYI.. the only part of the system that might use batteries is the thermostat.

Not sure which model number the Heil Max Pro 10 warranty uses. Heil will usally place the model number on the side of the outside unit or inside the cabinet for thee Inside unit. Click here for a direct link to=> Heil HVAC
Use care when reading any warranty because the wording is mostly written so you do not understand.

Hello, in order to have air conditioning you need a evaporator coil, a outdoor condensing unit , a line set that connects the two to each other. You will have to have a cooling load calculation done so you know what size air conditioner you need for your home, also you will need to bring power to the outside unit from the main electrical panel in your house. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Water dripping from furnace while air conditioner is running.

you need to have a drip line that take away the water when the ac is on so the water does not goes into the furnace ,also check for leaky line that could causing water to leak back

My AC unit wont blow the cold air.

if the ac outside is working, but not the furnace, means there is a control problem with the furnace, check wires in the furnace, make sure there is a blower wire plugged into the contact marked cool on the control panel of the furnace

Heil Max Performance 10 Heat Pump not working

First check to see if you have afloat switch inside the air handler ar underneath the air handler. Its purpose is to shut the outside ac off if the drain stops up. Very common. If this is OK take cover off unit and with screw driver push in the contactor. It is located about the middle of the panel. It has main power at the bottom. If unit comes on you cave a control voltage problem. Meaning something is not allowing 24 volts to the contactor. If your out of Refrigerant the low pressure swich will have it off. AIR CONDITIONER

Do you have any frost on the lines going to the outside unit. If the large line is frosted your evaporator (Cooling coil in the furnace) could be frozen up. Operating it with the fan in automatic with the cooling on will sometimes be the cause of this condition.

If there is not frost on the large line going to the outside unit and you are getting air circulation inside the house the problem could be a loss of refrigerant charge. Look at the joints where the pipes were soldered to the inside and outside units for signs of oil. If you find oil at any point it is the indication of a refrigerant leak.
