Hear humming sound like motor is running, controls light up, timer counts down normally, can't hear usual sound of water splashing on wash cycle, open door during wash cycle and everything appears dry as if NO water is coming into the machine.

Sounds like the control module is out -- cost about $100 (I am on my third). I got a "lifetime" warranty when buying my second one. If you are handy, you can replace it yourself. You can call Bosch to confirm this (I did). It mounts inside the door. Mine is a BOSCH 5316.
The draining problem may mean a clogged drain hose -- you have to check it all the way back to either the main drain or the garbage disposal (if you have one). This may be what forced off the impeller wheel.

There is a recall on the control board of many of these models, butyour problem is likely not related. It sounds like a plugged drain system or a possible bad drain pump. That's why you are hearing the pump running constantly. I have written a guide to help. It is here. Thanks!

I have been told to replace the timer which I am looking to do the same to my machine!
Hello &
Welcome to FixYa
Either of
these two things can cause this problem: first is the timer motor, if the sound
is coming from the control then the timer needs replacement. If the humming
comes from the bottom of the unit then it is the motor that needs replacement.
When the motor won't work you usually hear humming sound and replacing the
motor is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other
questions.

Hello &
Welcome to FixYa
When the
dishwasher fills then it means that the control and the water inlet valve are
fine, hum sound itself indicates that the motor is bad and needs replacement.
If you hear a hum sound from the bottom of the unit then it is the motor that
is bad and if the hum comes from the control then it is the timer that is bad
and needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
