Picture issue Ok so I have the Hitachi 55HDS69 55 in. Plasma and we turned the tv on last night and there is big black bars around the screen and it plays fine and all of the picture is there but its about the size of a 40in tv I have went through the menu over and over trying differnet aspects,zoom, everythingI can think of

I don't know what model you have,but... I have a 50v715 and it was doing the same thing and it turned out to be the lamp. So if you have not replaced the lamp in a while then it could just be it time. Hope this is helpful.

Ok if your hitachi TV dies with no power anywhere try this:
Some models have a kill switch under the bottom edge. It's like a gray switch like a small light switch press it back in and voila let there be LIGHT. Saves you at least a $200 trip to repair shop!!

Seems convergence out IC is fried in TV so it gives blue shadow.

Check out Convergence Out IC which you need to replace in TV, if you have enough experience of repair of big TV, necessary tools and know basic electronics.

i have the same problem, when i turn the volume knob on hitachi remote it goes away. Anyone heard of thi s???

Ok you have sound and no picture. This denotes that since this is a plasma TV the circuitry that controls the activation of the screen may have become defective. You will need the schematic to show the voltage levels that need to be present on the cable that connects between the screen and the control circuit and a voltmeter to measure those voltages. I would suggest that you get a qualified TV technician to work on this problem, due to the technical nature of this issue.

Hi i have this tv and last night the screen went black i can hear sound ok but no picture just a black screen, Also i can see dark
outlines /shadows of whats on the tv, can you tell me please what has caused this
