SOURCE: RCA RT2280 surround sound mode button wont select 5.1 dolby digital mode.

I had the same problem and this is what I did to fix it. Assuming that all of your equipment is powered on, (tv, blu-ray/dvd, rca receiver) you'll need to go into your dvd players audio menu and select the dolby digital audio.
Once you do this, the digital signal is sent to your receiver from the dvd. The receiver should automatically set itself to the dolby digital preset. If it doesn't, press the surround button until you reach it. I found part of this information here. And the rest was personal experience.
Also, it depends on if the disc format is in dolby 5.1. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Stereo Amplifier fades out. My Sansui dolby pro

No that's how to describe a problem, folks - with details. Using internal FM as the source is always the preferred way of troubleshooting system-wide receiver audio problems (no cables or setting in the way).

Does the sound come on immediately with power and then fade or is there a small delay while the electronics stabilize, a click and then sound that fades?

The fizzle probably means something is rapidly overheating or a capacitor is malfunctioning. If both channels do it, I'd suspect a common power supply problem. Can't help much more than that.

Testimonial: "Great help so far! Clearly written, clear concepts for isolating the problem, and very personable interaction. Highly recommended expert!"

SOURCE: how to hook up sharp dolby surround pro-logic

The source of your program will determine how you hook things up, and if you want to (if it's possible) route the video through the Sharp as well. Some systems have video switching, so you can run all sources through the system, and have a single video cable running to the TV.

If you are using a DVD player, typical Pro-Logic requires a red/white RCA cable from the DVD player to the amplifier unit. The video cable, either a 4-pin S-Video or a yellow composite cable, will run to the amplifier unit for switching purposes, or ditect to an input on the TV.

You can also run red/white RCAs fron the HDTV to an input on the Sharp. You likely have to set the TVs audio output to "fixed" or "external", which will disable the TVs speakers, while putting out sound to the Sharp.

We hooked it up and have no sound

From the Console Settings screen in the System area of the Xbox Dashboard, you can configure the video output of your Xbox 360 console for a widescreen, high-definition TV, determine your audio options, and check your console's serial number and Xbox Dashboard version.
Go to correct section for ... Audio

Change your audio output settings for games from this screen. These audio settings do not affect DVD movie playback. For DVD audio settings, refer to an individual DVD movie's setup screen.

Settings consist of:

  • Analog Output Settings: choose Mono to merge the left and right audio signals so that you can hear all sound through a connection to a monaural TV or monitor; choose Dolby Pro Logic II to listen in normal stereo (no audio surround receiver required) or to listen to Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic II soundtracks from compatible games or other media.

Dolby Pro Logic consists of four channels of audio: front left/center/right and a monaural surround channel that is mirrored in each of your rear left/right speakers. Dolby Pro Logic II uses digital signal processing to generate 5.0 audio (front left/center/right, rear left/right) from any stereo (left/right) programming, whether from movies, music, or games. Unlike movies and music, however, games are specially encoded with Dolby Pro Logic II decoding in mind.

To listen in either Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound, you must connect your cable's left/right (white/red) RCA connectors to a compatible surround receiver. For more information, see our connection page for the cable you're using:
  • Digital Output Settings: configure this setting only if you'll be using the Toslink optical digital-audio output from a compatible Xbox 360 AV cable (optical digital-audio cable sold separately):

The default digital-audio setting is Dolby Digital 5.1. If this is your preference, you do not have to make a selection from this screen.

The audio keeps going in and out and cuts off. Also I have other devices going into aux in but it doesn't show 5.1 surround it only shows the front L, Front R, and CT speakers in stereo. I want everything...

If you are playing a source that is Stereo such as FM Radio or a CD the sound will not use all 5.1 speakers unless you enable the correct Surround Mode. On the remote there is a button on the lower right of the remote that says SURROUND. You can toggle through the various surround modes with this button the mode you want is Dolby Pro Logic The Pro Logic mode uses the built-in circuit to steer the Left, Center, Right and Mono Surround channel audio signals and uses all five speakers to play both stereo and Dolby Pro Logic program source, such as TV and VCR. You can use this mode with any stereo program source (such as VCR/TV) to enjoy multi-channel sound experience.

Looking for manuals for two receiver[RV-9978A,RV-9970A].

You can download a PDF copy of the manual for the RV-9978A receiver here: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/user-manuals/RV9978A-RCA-Receivers-manual and here: http://audio.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/rca/rv9968_rv9978.html
Unfortunately, I can't find any manual for the second receiver. Beware some of the sites online that say they have it (via Google search) as some carry viral infection links.

Kenwood 107VR rec and No vol from Sub Output w/ menu Opt On

In the setup menu are the speakers set to large or small? On some receivers if you have it set to large all the bass is directed to the right-left fronts.
On my pioneer receiver if the speakers are set to large the sub-pre-out only works if the receiver is in a surround mode, if its in stereo mode and the speakers are set to large the sub-pre-out is dead. If the speakers are set to small the sub-pre-out works all the time.
Also, some receivers won't send a signal to the sub-pre-out if there is no LFE discreet signal info from the dolby digital or dts bitstreem.
For example I have several older dvd's that light up the L C R SL SR icons on my receiver, but don't light up the LFE icon. I have other older dvd's that just light up the L and R icons meaning they are only recorded in stereo like a vhs tape recorded in dolby surround.
In my basement I also have a kenwood dolby digital receiver.
I've noticed that when a dvd only lights up the left and right icons the pioneer will automatically switch to dolby pro logic surround. The kenwood will only send the signal to the left and right fronts (stereo). If I manually switch it (kenwood) to dolby pro logic I'll get sound from all the speakers just like the pioneer, but it does'nt do it by itself.
Most receivers that have a tape monitor won't work in surround mode with the tape monitor on. The pioneer will let me use the tape monitor with dolby pro-logic but won't pass through a dolby digital signal with the monitor on.
Hope this helps.
