SOURCE: WF860 Door stuck in closed position.

FIRST switch off and unplug.

Pull machine out and remove lid by undoing self tapping screws at the top back. May have to slide lid back a bit to lift off.

Internal catch mechanism will be reachable from top for manual release. You may need someone to push door inwards while you release catch.

Good luck

SOURCE: cannot open door as handle broken for indesitw103

hiya easiest way to open is = first unplug power! then turn off water hoses to machine then draw machine out to gain access to pipe connections on rear and disconnect them ? now remove rear panel top screws as these also secure the top panel at rear then lift rear of top panel and pull to rear the panel now can be removed ? you now have access to the latch on front panel inside? if you reach down you can flick latch /hook clear to open door ? at this point after removing washing? you can observe the door inner remove inner panel that surrounds/secures glass? then you can observe how the door handle/lock assy is secured ? easy diy you can browse yellow pages for the replacement handle assy? machine repairs/spares reassembly is reverse to above wish you well this is a common occurance and should not have prob obtaining parts for the MAKE/MODEL NUMBER ? when enquiring for parts best wishes

HOTPOINT 9526 DOOR STAY LOCKED AFTER FINISHED THE CYCLE

The first thing to check is - does the washing machine still have water inside? If there is obviously still water inside the machine then this is possibly the cause of the door not opening. Drain the machine.

Can't see any water inside

If you can't see any water inside then it may be caused by various faults listed below. Here's a list of the most common causes of a jammed door -
  1. On some machines if the pressure switch doesn't reset to empty it keeps the door lock energized. If this is the case though, unplugging it should allow the door lock to cool down and open after a few minutes.
  2. The water hasn't pumped out properly (or a blockage in the pressure system is holding the pressure switch on) - but only if the washing machine has a pneumatic (air operated) door safety lock (a rubber hose connected to the door interlock and connected to a pressure chamber bottle on the tub - water forces air up this tube and locks the door)
  3. The water has pumped out properly, but the pressure switch hasn't reset due to a faulty pressure switch or blockage in the pressure system - or the water hasn't pumped out properly and the pressure switch hasn't reset because of the water inside. A faulty pressure switch, or blockage of debris inside the pressure chamber bottle could also be trapping the air that's operating the door lock (if a pneumatic lock is fitted - not many have these days).
  4. The door interlock has just jammed
  5. The door catch, handle, or some part of the door catch mechanism is broken and not opening the door
  6. ****** (a device that detects the motion of the drive belt fitted to many older Hotpoint washing machines which "pecks" at the belt when the door handle or button is operated) is broken or has fallen off
Opening a jammed door Do not take the lid off and reach inside the washing machine to try and release the door if the washing machine is still plugged in as you will be electrocuted.
The most common cause of a jammed door is likely to be a faulty door interlock. Sometimes you can release the door from the inside by manipulating the door interlock or forcing the door catch out from it. But they sometimes just have to be broken away from the machine. If you need to do this make sure you -
  1. Unplug it
  2. Break the interlock off from inside the machine, don't force the door or you will just break more parts

Won't drain the water anymore

Drain motor is usually located on the bottom of the machine. Hopefully you have an access panel separate from the main door panel. Should be a hose coming in and a hose going out. Put the machine in spin cycle and see if you can feel the pump spinning. If the pump is very hot, chances are something is blocking it. They will usually have an access port that can be opened up just for this reason, be ready to catch the water when you open it up, and please turn the machine off first. If you get no sign of life from your pump it may have died. Also check for any blockages in the drain lines. All of this should be easily accomplished with a couple screwdrivers and towels

The door on my Hotpoint Washing Machine WT741 won't open even though the programme has ended. We've tried running the programme again and pumping out but still the door won't open.

The door latch may have broken. You can sometimes open the door from the inside. You will know the door latch is broken if the door handle is floppy. If the door handle is not floppy - then the issue is probably with the door interlock. This is the electronic part that prevents the door from being opened during and after the wash has finished.
Either way - you'll need to get the door open.
To do this, unplug the washing machine from the mains and then move it out from where it is. Tip the washing machine to a 45 degree angle. Don't tip it over 45 degrees as you may break internal parts.
You need two people to do this - one person hold the machine at 45 degrees angle, whilst the other person puts their hand up into the machine - you should be able to feel the door catch mechanism and depending on the model, open the door that way. Sometimes the manufacturer has helpfully put a manual release inside - and sometimes they don't.
If you aren't able to open the door using that method. Get a length of strong string and poke the middle section of the string into the gap between the washer door and the machine body - to the right of the door handle. Use a flat headed screw drive to push the string into the gap, all the way around the door, so that you end up with the two ends of the string on the left hand side of the door. Now have someone put the ends of the string whilst the other person pulls the door handle. If the string is pushed in far enough it will release the door latch and the door will open. It takes a bit of persistence to get it right.
Once you have the door opened you can usually replace either the interlock mechanism or the door latch itself. Parts are easily available online from sites like espares and yourspares.

Why is my frigidaire washer not spinning?

  1. Stopped Mid-cycle
    • If your Frigidaire washing machine started spinning, but then stopped, verify that the power cord is still connected to the outlet. See if the outlet blew by plugging in a different appliance into the outlet. See if you blew a fuse. A blown fuse usually is either black or has broken wires. Replace the fuse. If you have a circuit breaker instead of a fuse box, reset the circuit breaker if it's been tripped. Check the lid switch, which is located inside the main housing of the washing machine, near the door frame. If the switch is burned out, order a new part from a Frigidaire parts dealer.
    Pump
    • The pump's sole responsibility is to remove water during the spin cycle. If the pump isn't working properly, see if it's clogged with debris or clothing. Use needle-nose pliers to remove these items. Check the pump pulley, which is connected to the pump. This component must move freely for the pump to work. If it won't turn, purchase a new pump pulley since you can't usually fix this component.
    Lid
    • Check the door latch assembly if the door isn't closing correctly. If any of these components are broken, order a new part from a Frigidaire parts dealer. If you do not, the washer won't start spinning since it believes the door isn't closed. Your Frigidaire washing machine won't start the spin cycle until the lid or door is closed. Always close the lid, and remove any items preventing the lid from fully closing. Always close the dispenser drawer.
    Additional Concerns
    • Never over- or under-load your washing machine. Your Frigidaire washer may not enter the spin cycle if the load is too large, since this can damage the washing machine. Remove a few pieces of clothing. If the load is too small, add a few similar items to the washing machine. Check the internal belt, drive motor and motor coupling. If any of these components are broken or very worn, they may not work properly, preventing the washer from entering the spin cycle. Order replacement parts from a parts dealer. Check the tub and basket bearings, and get new ones if the current ones have broken components or are defective.

I cannot get my washer to release so i can open it up and switch clothes over.. It has finished its cycle i even made it do another cycle to try and get it to release but it wont.. any suggestions? Kat

There are many reasons why the door may be jammed shut -

1. The water hasn't pumped out properly and the washing machine has a pneumatic door safety lock (a rubber hose connected to the door interlock and connected to a pressure chamber bottle on the tub - water forces air up this tube and locks the door)
2. Washing machine won't empty water
3. The water has pumped out properly, but a blockage of gunge inside the pressure chamber bottle is trapping the air that's operating the door lock (if a pneumatic lock is fitted - not many have these days due to cost cutting)
4. Door interlock jammed
5. Door catch, handle, or mechanism broken
Try running Just the rinse spin cycle again,
