Need a wiring diagram for a maytag gas dryer dg312

Need a wiring diagram (ASAP!)  for a maytag gas dryer dg312. My guy found a motor but can't figure it out. Maytag no longer has these diagrams. Thank you!

Unfortunately, when he pulled the old motor out (hoping it just need some jerry-rigging), it was hard to get it unwired, and hard to see what he was doing, and he's afraid that he messed up.

If the old motor is still installed simply change wire for wire.

Wiring Diagram for washing machine

Hello, On the American made appliances, the custom is to paste a wiring diagram inside the panels of the washing machine. They figure you need to remove the panels to service the parts and the Diagram will be waiting for you when you pop the panel off. Can't say what a foreign brand does.

Being foreign-made eliminates the help you can usually get at a Library which have books about Appliances. If you do a Web search entering exactly what you have as a Model and Make, then you may get a hit.

Now some of the sites gave me detailed Diagrams for my 30 Year old Maytag dryer which allowed me to replace my gas Solenoids and to know the exact name for the part.

Servall is a Franchised International appliance parts supplier. They have been in business for over 50 Years and if you do not have a local store they are online. They will ship and probably should be your first stop. Once you have the Diagrams you will need to go somewhere for parts.

I have an old maytag dryer that wont heat. happened once before and i replaced something but cant remember what part it is a model number DG312 series & serial number 339062xa i am thinking it was one...

Hi, I have looked the model up and it shows it is a gas dryer. These round switches you are talking about are for safety reasons, You should have a wire connected to one side and going out the other.Pick you up an insulated wire with clamps on the ends at Home Depot, Radio Shack for sure and you can bypass these switches to see if the unit starts to heat. This is the best way to check a switch as we do this everyday in A/C repair. Process of elimination. Best of Luck to you and please keep me posted. Safety First.

Maytag Model DG312 not drying

Firstly, ascertain that you have made a positive heat selection on the control panel temperature switch, If available.

Below are some links, courtesy of www.repairclinic.com, that will assist you in diagnosing/repair of your dryer. You may have to enter your model number in the search box to access some of the information.

Below is a parts breakdown/disassembly procedure for your dryer.

http://www.repairclinic.com/Dryer-Gas-Maytag-Style-Appliance-Diagram

If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:

Igniter
Gas valve coils
Thermal fuse
Igniter http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-dg312-%3d%3di3018&PartID=3018 Modern gas dryers use an electric igniter to ignite the gas from the gas valve. When it's working properly, the igniter glows bright orange. When it burns out, the dryer tumbles but there's no heat because the gas can't ignite. When the igniter burns out, you need to replace it. If the igniter is held by a tension bracket, you very well may need to replace the bracket too.

The igniter is inside the dryer housing, near the bottom front, usually in a cone-shaped metal tube (the force cone). It's about 2 inches long. It's mounted to the far end of the burner tube, and it has two wires attached to it--or to the tension bracket, if there is one.

Gas valve coils http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-dg312-%3d%3di3479&PartID=3479 Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time.

Thermal fuse http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-dg312-%3d%3di483890&PartID=483890 On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Other components that could keep it from drying.

Washer not spinning dry enough

Restricted Venting
Make certain that unrestricted airflow is available.

Blower: must be tightly attached to motor shaft.

Maytag Atlantis MDE7400AYW timer has been replaced but the dryer won't stop drying on it's own. What is the reason? I have the same problem... the timer on mine doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

The wire connections to the timer may have not been made correctly when it was replaced bypassing the OFF contact in the control circuit.  There should be a wiring diagram inside the front or back panel that you can check.

Dryer won't work.

Ok, this is electrical motor failure. you will need to replace the motor in this case. the hum is a sign of electrical motor windings failure due to minor separation of the cooper wire windings that hold the ac current.

Replace the electric motor asap if possible.
