Go to Garmin and download and install Garmin Express, Plug your GPS into your PC. The GPS should power on and Garmin Express should identify it and tell you of any updates. If the GPS does not power on (it should go into usb mode), then contact Garmin for warranty work. You should leave your GPS plugged into the PC overnight to give it a chance to charge if the battery is flat.
Go to the Garmin website. If you have an account, log in. If you do not have an account, then make one. The site will allow you to register your device onto your account. You can then download and install Garmin Express, which will provide you with any software and map updates. To use Garmin Express, just plug your GPS into your PC, open the program, and follow the instructions it provides.
On some units, they won't click. You slide the micro SD card into the slot and you will feel a slight resistance. Continue to slide the card in until it stops. It will only slide in one way. This is exactly how the micro SD card slides into a standard SD adapter. There is no click. If you connect the GPS to a PC using the USB data cable, your PC should recognize (2) memory devices; (1) The GPS and (2) the SD card. It may take a few moments. Wait a few minutes until you see both appear in Windows. Always select EJECT or SAFELY REMOVE before you remove the USB data cable.
