Check that the hdmi lead is good, if it is check that its outputting a signal that is not too high for the tv. i.e. if the lg is outputting 1080p can your tv show 1080p just because the tv is HD ready, doesnt automatically mean it can show 1080p try setting the lg to 720p or lower to see if anything shows on the tv

Hi I have the same tv. How is the video signal coming out of the dvd player and what is it plugged into on the tv. I travel for a living and coach my wife over the phone all the time.

Do you also have a computer monitor attached to the computer when attempting to use the HDMI?

First you need to state Mac G5 model and MacOS 10.?,? and whether the connection is VGA or mini-DVI. (I'm at 10.5.8.) I would not be helped by LG model other than to know if it is HD 1080 or 720. I'm going to assume you have MacOS 10.4 or later but most should apply. Apple>>About This Mac>>More info...>>Hardware>>Graphics/Display and read more about the display. Digital connection will give you more info. Close the Info but even with VGA you should be able to go to Apple>>System Preferences...>>Displays and have 2 windows--1 for the built-in and 1 for the external. If the latter is off screen, press Gather Windows. On the external display Turn on Show Displays in Menu Bar. This will let you control Mirroring and Resolution. You will need to pick a resolution your TV can do 1920x1080 1280x720 or possibly less to get started. My MacBook has all of those. I usually do not use mirroring and 1920x1080 gives a good pixel match to my DLP. On the external, turn on overscan if you need to put the menu bar on the screen or off if showing maximum of photos. You need to sync first, then play with other things. -Ken

I have the same TV and low volume. Since there is no audio out, then I can't attach it to a receiver for external speakers.. correct? I don't have a cable box, so the cable goes directly from the tv to the wall. I don't what what a sat box is. Is there any other way to get more sound out of this TV. (sorry but I'm a novice at electronics)

YOU NEED TO CONNECT OPTICAL CABLE (NOT INCLUDED) TO OPTICAL1 CONNECTION ON YOUR HB405 AND OPTICAL OUT OF YOUR TV. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE DONE THAT TRY PRESSING SIMPLINK BUTTON ON YOUR TV REMOTE NAD CHANGE THE SPEAKER OUTPOUT FROM TV TO HT(HOME THEATER).
