Need disassembly instructs for canon mp780 printer purge unit

Greetings: My mp780 has been intermittently printing poorly for the last year. I disassembled it several months ago and cleaned up everything I could but I was too chicken to dig all the way down to the purge unit. Consequently, it would work for a while until the blue ink would ''dry out'' and I'd have to hand prime it.
SOOOO... I just finished disassembling the whole mp780 unit again and now I have the purge unit extracted and sitting beside me. What I need is a disassembly map of the 780 purge unit (lots of pictures) and any tips, calibration or keyings etc before I take it apart to clean.

Canon doesn't have instructions to take apart that part. A new one is around $40.00.

I have a mp780 and there is an error 6A00

Hi there

This answers with a titch more detail.
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.
As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.
Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit.
The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.
Incidentally, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model.

And it's always a paper path error or purge unit.

The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Also clean the purge unit out make sure all is clean.

Canon Mp780 error code 6A00

6A00 is not a jam error, it is an error of the purge assembly not cycling properly. Many times a paper scrap jammed in the capping assembly or the squeegee assembly caught on the filter assembly. Usually worn out gears and dried ink so that replacement of the purge assembly is the best fix.

Some colours not printing

I bet you are using non genuine ink, the MP780 will not put up with that ink, you will need a new printhead and maybe a purge unit. Take the machine to your ink supplier and get him to fix it as he supplied the ink
