The engine is an Evinrude 70 horse, 4 stroke out board and it has trouble starting and staying started. It has very low power even at full throttle when we get it started. It seems like it is not getting gas, but the gas is flowing through the hose. It was back firing on us. It also idles funny. What do we need to do as far as getting it to run properly? Thank you

    Thanks Thomas,
I was able to convince my husband already to do that, he did and it seems to be running better, we will water test today.

2010 150 Evinrude E-Tech. Motor was running great then just shut off. Will not start again.Could it be it needes to be reset, all 4 lights at tach light up showing good.

first bit of advice
do not use e-mix fuels in outboard engines
WHY
because ethanol separates from the fuel if not used continuously so letting it stand between outings is not good
secondly ethanol is hygroscopic which means that it absorbs moisture from the air that is going in via the tank vent and that results in corroded aluminium parts and rusted fuel tanks and outboards operate in a very moisture laden environment
now for the problem
being a late model engine , it should be a 4 stroke and like any 4 stroke engine , check the timing belt/chain, crank/cam position sensors , ignition module
it is important to check all harness connections as salt water rapidly causes corrosion in electrical connections and components
have the service agent do a scan for fault codes remember this
Suzuki out board 2 stroke motors were used in the early suzuki 4x4 cars and modern 4 stroke engines are simply car engines on end

Have a Mccolluch mac10-10s have trouble with high\low speed how do you go abour setting them

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other problem. Turn H and L jet screws CW to stops (lightly), then back each out 1-1/2 turns CCW. This is a basic setting and should allow the engine to start and run. Allow the engine to warm up, then pull the throttle full on, and adjust the H needle CW until the engine starts to speed up. Proper final adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes unloaded, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Release the throttle and adjust L needle CW for better idle, but which still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. If adjusted too far (lean), the engine will 'gasp' when throttled. Set the idle speed screw so that the engine continues to run, but the chain doesn't try to turn. Hope this helps!

Chain saw carburator settings for husqvarna 61

Turn both screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting and the engine should start and run. Allow the engine to warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Turn the H jet screw CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-strokes. Proper adjustment occurs when the engine is 4-stroking, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. This gives best power and lowest heat. Release the throttle and adjust L jet CW until the engine idles fairly well, but will allow the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

35hp Johnson evinrude outboard not running at full potential

Hi, did you buy your engine used? Sounds like your gonna have to get the carb or carbs cleaned. Its possible you could have a stopped up fuel filter, or not enough spark but i am guessing its gonna be the carbs. They got some gunk in em i bet. Probably old fuel turned to gunk from setting up. I had the same problem on my 40 horse.
