Look near the memory slots. You will see labels. Also look all inside the board for labels. Write down the numbers you see on your motherboard. Then get on Ebay and look for motherboards for your laptop. The board on ebay will have model numbers on them, look for a number that matches what you wrote down.
Below is a link to the motherboards I found on eBay for Toshiba Satellite A100.
Go down to the line that starts with Satellite A10. Scroll across, and click on A100. This is a PDF file. It may take up to 30 seconds before the first page comes up. It may also take additional time to fully download

You need to make a bootable CD, put theToshiba DMI utility on the bootable CD; Boot from that CD, then run DMI utility to set the machine to match the designation on your recovery disks. That'll do it.
I'm not really sure what you are asking. If you see an option on startup that says something like press f11 or something for system recovery, then you can recover from the recovery partition--assuming there is one. You can probably order a recovery CD or DVD from Toshiba, also.
When I first trying system recovery the recovery would complete and when rebooting it hang at mup.sys in the drivers, now I get this error 10E716045D. Toshiba A105-2716
maybe the shop formatted the hard drive including the recovery partition where all the files should be .so your disc cant find it .
if you can boot up into safe mode then use windows restore function to restore to an earlier time,if not you may have to get a set of recovery discs from toshiba
