My radio will not transmitt but it receives just fine

Most problems with radios that receive but do not transmit are antenna or antenna wire/connector issues. It's easy to receive with a marginal antenna but transmitting requires a good working antenna. If you have a SWR meter or can get your hands on one, install it in line with the antenna and test for reflected power. Of course, make sure your TX light comes on when you depress the mic switch. If not, switch mic and try again.
Hope this is helpful! Reply if u can.

I have a Uniden 525 fixed mount 2-way VHF radio. It has power and picks up weather with the shakespeare antenna. However radio checks have failed and i don't receive anything either. The antenna's tip is...

Yes if the tip is broken, the antenna will receive, but not transmit properly. The make an antenna that has a 32" stainless steel antenna with a small metal "can". Can mount it anywhere.

My uniden ltd 715 receives from my handheld but when I transmit to handheld it just buzzes.

Just to clarify something, you say that your hand-held VHF can receive a clear transmission from the Uniden, now which of the radios are buzzing, the Uniden or the HH?. If it's the hand-held buzzing try transmitting on the low watt on the Uniden, get some distance from the radio, because if the hand-held are to close to the on the Uniden on high watt you will get a buzzing, the signal are overpowering the receiver of the hand-held, try getting the minimum of 30 feet away. Good luck.

My UNIDEN UM525 receive only near and strongly stations

First, check your antenna, could have been struck by lightning or corrosion could be setting in, if it's corrosion you would not be able to see it. Before going into your radio, try the radio with a different antenna. You never mentioned weather the radio are transmitting or not, knowing this the technition would have a better idea where to check for the problem. Good luck.

Navman VHF 7100 Radio neither receiving nor transmitting

I would suggest checking your antenna/coax connector. I am not sure what kind of antenna or ,mount you are using but I would suspect it being something in the antenna. Most radios are designed to not transmit if the antenna is broke or not connected at all. When you say bent do you mean metal bent or bent at the base? So that would be where I start. Can you try a different antenna? Hope you track it down. N5ARK

Transmits but does not Receive

Check your microphone by swapping with another duplicate. If no differance, you will need a SWR meter (standing wave ratio) to find the culprit. It attaches in line of the coax and determinds power out and reflected power. The reading should be 25 watts foward and max of 1 reflected.
