SOURCE: tv cuts off 10 seconds after switch on and destroying vertical output ic

If the main IC is not putting out a vertical drive signal then the vertical output will not do anything and therefore will not be damaged. What exactly do you mean by the set "literally eats deflection IC's"? What is the number on the vertical output IC? I will bet that your pump-up cap or pump-up diode is defective.

SOURCE: WILL NOT POWER ON

isolate power from hor.output section. if voltage becomes normal 130v &it does not drop then power supply is ok. now check hor output for leaky compnents near eht specially capacitor & diode. check hor output tr. at last eht. you can clean print near eht.

You probably have shorted rectifiers and/or transistor(s) on standby board. Trouble-shoot rect bridge and cap. Feel stand by circuit transformer for abnormal heat, sure sign

I have a sharp CRT t.v that won't turn on. When power is pressed the high voltage can be heard the filament light up for a few seconds and then the relay clicks off.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

I have a sharp tv. the problem is when i turn on the unit it shows a single horizontal line then immediately relays clicks then turns to stand by mode. i already change the vertical ic.

Vertical scan output failure. That is the reason for this horizontal line, right across the center of the screen. Check and replace damaged component/s at it vertical scan output section circuit. Check the solder terminals of the vertical scan output IC; for any loose solder points. Contact any service technician, if you're not handy in electronics.

Power seems to cut in and out - it 'clicks'and a second red light comes on - most of the time just one red light is on. Thanks

The click you hear is most likely the speaker protection circuit relay due to the protection circuits being triggered. In the event of a dc voltage appearing across the speakers the protection circuit isolates the the speaker terminals from the output stage.
Dry joints on the relay is not uncommon and causes false triggering. Check both pos' and neg' supplies are present at the output transistors / ic. Connect a dc volt meter across the speaker output terminals if a voltage of more than a few millivolts appears just before relay clicks then check the ouput stage for dry joints, leaky transistors and resistors having increased in value.

I don't get any front display or any sound when turned on.

Do you hear any clicks? If not, the standby transformer or related circuitry is bad. If you hear 1 relay click...the audio output section is most likely the problem. The first click you hear is the main power relay...and should see display.. the second relay click is the protection circuit relay engaging to let audio to your speakers...if the second click is not heard (it should occur in 3 to 5 seconds) there are shorted output transistors or a shorted output IC trying to blow your speakers with 50 to 75 volts dc. The protection circuit monitors the speaker lines for voltage. They should always read milli-volts only...not even 1 volt.Anyway, good luck
