SOURCE: LG HD Digital Video Recorder LST 5402P has stopped displaying menu onscreen

first i assume you are trying to watch the unit through AV. If this is the case, turn on unit, press "Display Format" on the front of the unit, keep press it till you have "YPBPR" displaying, press select on front panel, next press "Display Format" again till you come to 576i, press select. Now press menu and it should display. If this problem occurs with HDMI, simply change the display settings to HDMI, and 1080i. Hope it helps, Murder-face.

SOURCE: Audio but no video from Sony Blu-Ray w/ HDMI hookup to RX-V663

Okay...my first contribution to any forum but I have the same problem (Yamaha RX-V663 and Samsung Blu Ray) and found the solution. The problem is you probably have your HDMI cables from your DVD player and reciever connected to a DVI input on your TV. The DVI may have problems communicating--not HDCP compliant. My system was working great then I hit a button on my remote...just playing around. I think it was the pure audio and I turned off the receiver. After that, the audio worked but there was no video. After many frustrating hours, the fix was to unplug the HDMI and DVI cable then turn the power off, cycle the power again, and plug the HDMI and DVI cables back in (the DVI was the last cable plugged in, not sure if that matters). By unplugging everthing you've reset the communication between the HDMI components and the DVI TV.

See page 18 of the yamaha owners manual, second to last note on bottom right of the page. It says there may be a problem...

I also noticed that the yamaha reciever was sending 1080p (my older tv is 1080I) and that is why the video wouldn't display on the TV. You can see this in the video signal info screen, unfortunately there is no setting to switch it back, just recycle the cables and power and it should reset.

Uncredibly frustrating but I got my picture back!

Does the JVC DR-MV5S DVD recorder/VCR combo unit have an analog tuner or digital tuner, so that you can record one channel while watching a different channel on your TV?

You can read what JVC is telling about the recorder. It is not an digital tuner, but still you can record a DVD and watch another channel or vice versa.

  1. Connect the camcorders yellow, red, and white (Audio/ Video) to the input on the back of the combo called AV1 or Video 1.
  2. Then turn the channel on the DVD recorder to AV1 or Video 1. (A couple channels down from channel 2)
  3. Make sure camera is in VCR mode and hit play on camera
  4. You should see your camera video on your TV and rewind to the place you want to start recording and hit stop.
  5. Put an empty DVD in recorder and hit Rec. Button (usually red)

  7. Then hit stop on your DVD recorder and each section like this will be another chapter.
