I can receive well, but cannot transmit
There are several reasons you may not be able to transmit with the FTM-3100R:
1) Your antenna is not matched to the frequency of use and presents a high SWR. The 3100 protects itself from high SWR by refusing to transmit
2) You have somehow enabled the busy-channel-lockout feature in the setup menu, and you are operating with an open squelch
3) Your DC power supply voltage is too low to support transmit current
4) You are transmitting with too low a power setting and the receiver cannot hear you
5) You are attempting to transmit to a repeater that uses a CTCSS squelch tone, and you do not have the proper squelch tone configured
Both of the LEDs to the left of the display should turn red to indicate you are transmitting. If both LEDs turn red, your problem is likely either #4 or #5.
