Try removing a spark plug and make sure you are getting spark. If there is spark put a couple tablespoons of premixed fuel directly into the cylinder before putting the plug back in. It should fire right up, and hopefully will speed up the priming of the fuel system. Hope this is of some help to ya, good luck.

Hard starting on Yamaha 130 2 stroke. Always starts easily with ether. Choke works well.

This can have some reasons:
1 clogged carburettors. Too less fuel means a hard start.
2 Worn spark plugs
3 Loss of compression... On a 2-stroke, measuring compression is not an exact science. Have throttle wide open. No spark plugs, check compression on all cylinders. They should be all within 1bar from eachother...

I have a 2006 Yamaha 4 stroke 40 hp outboard. If it sits idle for a month or more it will not run smoothly. I can not seem to correct this problem?

1. NEVER run gas with ethanol in the engine.
2. When you start it put one half can of anti fogging fluid in gas and run it for 10 minutes.
3. When you are going to store it turn the gas supply off while the engine is running and let the engine run out of gas. That way there is no varnish build up in the carb.
4 change the spark plug twice each season.

sounds like the battery is hooked up backward, or the charge coil wire has worn thru and is shorting out on the flywheel.

My Yamaha Outboard 115hp 1994 motor starts but wont keep its revs up for very long. I've had issues with water in the fuel recently and had all old fuel and water flushed out of my tanks and motor. After...

Not enough information, but there are two things I didn't read about you checking. Make sure the fuel quick connection on the engine (and possibly the fuel tank) is locked all the way in first, Then see if your fuel pump is working. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb and, holding it in a gas can, have someone turn on the ignition. If It's an electric pump, it should start running fuel, if mechanical, they'll have to crank it a little to get fuel going. If you get plenty of fuel that way, your float in the carb could have gotten stuck, or something in the line got into it.

What type of petrol is needed for a yamaha outboard motor horsepower 8?

reg unleaded gas.

You haven't specified as to its year of manufacture, so if its older, as in a 2 stroke, it'll be a mix of gas and outboard oil.

If its a newer model, a 4 stroke, it'll be injected(Gas and oil seperate)

If you are totally unsure, Consult your owners manual and if you have none, then any Yamaha dealer can use the serial # off the motor to establish any specs on it for you.

Happy boating.
