I have a magnavox ZV427MG9 dvd/vcr combo box. I do not have a cable or satellite box, but I do have a cable-in coax connection. How can I hook it up so that I can record from my tv set?
Ge a regular antenna hooked up first to the converter box then take
the cable and connect to the vcr/dvd then the tv you will need two
coax type wires
IF the dvd/vcr works like my vcr, make sure the unit is set to channel 4 or 3 whichever isn't a a real channel in your area. If you previously before the switch over, watched channel 4 news etc then set the switch in back to 3. The most common is 3, that's what they come out of the box set to. However, in my area in Arizona channel 4 is the unused channel. You shouldn't need a digital vcr/dvd receiver, just a good antenna, even with a bad antenna you should get something. Like I said to record with a vcr make sure the unit, with its remote is set to channel 3 or 4 it MUST match what the converter box is set to. OK, THEN you CHANGE channels ONLY with the Converter box remote ONLY. ONLY that remote, that the way it works for the VCR. Follow the directions about hooking up the antenna to the box first, then to the DVD combo THEN to the tv that's the last connection. NOT hard just sounds like it. next time I will post pics.
If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver.
