Hi. It isn't a carriage return. The L/H lever allows to print characters Low or High, I don't mean uppercase or lowercase but literally low or high. Usually is set on Low and one can put on High if needed. For example when you have a pre-compiled module, you have to put in something but there is a line in that spot. If you don't use L/H all the letters you type are printed right in that line becoming unclear. Set to High and your letters are printed upper the line.

How do I releaseor move the right margin on a Hermes 3000

You either squeeze the margin stops or push them down, they may be stuck so a little light machine oil on the margin rails should move them.

Typewriter carriage

The typewriter needs the escapement adjusted, or you have a bind in the escapement, and it probably needs a good cleaning and oiling. This usually done by a pro.

I have a Hermes 3000 typewriter. Once I set the left margin, it's not sitting there. It moves fast to the right margin. I am not able to type a single word because of this. Is the mainspring is bad? ...

The mainspring is not bad or the carriage would not move that way. It sounds like and escapement problem either from the carriage release sticking, the escapement itself needing adj. which you probably cannot do, the escapement rack is bent or maladjusted, or the tab function is sticking or maladjusted. Check the carriage release levers to see if they are sticking. Also make sure the tab function is knocking off so the carriage is not in constant tab mode. Hope this helps.

I have a Hermes 2000 typewriter. The carriage goes half the way and get stick. Please let me know how to solve this situation. Appreciate your help. thanks !

It is not broken. The machine was designed this way. If you hit the key number 34 (two arrows on the right hand side) it will release. It stops a few spaces after the bell. There is another way to release this feature and I am trying to figure it out as well.

Hermes 3000 carriage is "locked."

I think there's a lock there in the spacing. Mine can be locked by pulling the spacing lever far upward. Just set your spacing and I think it will unlock.

Hermes 3000 tab stuck in middle.

After you press the margin release key, space to the desired R. margin location, press the R. MAR key.

Hi, I need to know how to set the tabs on my Hermes Baby typewriter and how to tab to the set place. No manual, and it has me floored. Has a key on the top left row with two arrows on it, each pointing in...

On the top row there should be 2 keys one + one - these are the set and clear tab keys. Theone with the 2 arrows is the margin release key there should also be a key that says tab that will move you rfom tab to tab.
