Everytime we open the door the microwave turns on. It sounds like it does when cooking with door closed. It turns off when we close the door. We can heat food when door is closed and touch pad works and turntable spins. But it's also turning on when we open the door.
The switch assembly is somehow staying "closed" satisfying the interlock and enabling it to run.
Disassemble the unit, beware specially of the high voltage capacitor, if you aren't comfortable or competent, buy a new microwave. If you are mechanically inclined, disassemble the unit until the switch assembly is accessible; it will have the door latch attached to it.
The switch is either broken or something? exogenous is keeping it closed. It may have come loose due to the door slamming?.
It's a simple fix. I am certainl you will be successful.
Hello. Thank you for your detailed reply. My husband is a union trained electrician with a commercial license. Will that be enough experience to handle such a repair? Or would it require additional mechanical engineering knowledge?

Thank you Eustacio. Where does the switch assembly and door latch reside? On the door itself? Or do you mean the front face of the microwave behind the door, behind the side where the touch pad and control board are? Thanks again.
