UN50H6201AFXZA - Samsung LED: sound and backlight, no picture
V is barely 2 years old, with relatively infrequent use. Often not turned on at all, for days at a time.
Mid-movie screen cut to black. Sound still works, remote still works, can change inputs, but can only see the backlight, no menu, image, picture, nothing.
Tried power cycle, tried unplugging, nothing. Flashlight test shows nothing.
It's not the outlet or input device. Any ideas? tcon? main board? How do I know?
Disconnect the flatcables between the t-con and display one at a time and check if there wil be picture on one half of the display. I've seen a lot of H-types with a defective display.Disconnect the flatcables between the t-con and display one at a time and check if there wil be picture on one half of the display. Chances are your LED backlights are bad and it's shutting down the inverter, without the proper test gear there isn't a way to test the strips without removing the panel to get at each strip but in 9 out of 10 sets we repair with the symptoms you're describing it turns out being bad lamps not the power board
This is strange. Does the red light on the right side (looking from the front of the TV) lights up? (The switch there is a programmed device by itself.)
Do you have back lighting. Shine a light on the screen. If you can barely see a picture the set has no backlight but video is good. This would rule out the main board. Not shure if this set is LED backlight or flouresent tube back light. If flouresent tube check for voltages to inverter board. 24v or 15v. They are marked on the board. If voltages are there likely inverter board. or could be power brd. Check pricing on new tv.
