How do i replace a rewind spring in a stihl fs 45 weed eater

first off what model of trimmer is it? an fs what? second, if you are talking about the recoil spring you will need to go to a STIHL dealer and order a new one. If it came off one end then that means it broke and needs to be replaced and if it isn't broken but now uncoiled replacing it will be easier then trying to rewind it and put it back together

Hi, have a stihl fs 85, runs fine for 10 minutes, then just cuts out. tried cleaning carb, muffler.

Two things spring to mind, fuel tank breather, to rule this out slacken off the filler cap when the machine starts to die, if it picks up again change the tank breather, or the ignition coil is breaking down when hot, this would require a replacment unit.

Could be several things including a broken return spring. If you are not experienced with these springs please take it to a reputable shop to avoid any personal injury.

You have to kake sure u wind it the rite way there should be tension on the spring when it is wound and if let go should return if it does that u have it rite...the little plastic peice must be connected to the hooh on the spring
