Hi Sam,
Make sure that you have checked the circuit breaker, to find out wither or not the breaker was tripped or not, before you take it apart. but there is a good chance that you are right on the money......

Dryer is not heating. How can I tell if it is the fuse, heating element or thermostat? Already went through all the troubleshooting mentioned in the handbook.

If it's running but not heating odds are the wire to the heating element has broken. They had a habit of "cooking" themselves near the junction block. Unplug the unit and follow the electrical supply into the machine. Dis-mantle as necessary provided you're comfortable knowing that you can put it back together. Once you find the heating element look where the electrical supply wire attaches. It's a good bet you'll find the problem there if it's a broken wire.

How to change the Heating Element in a Kenmore Elite Electric Dryer?

If the dryer is running but not heating, then the heating element needs to be replaced. The procedure is as follows:--- 1) First of all unplug the dryer from wall outlet.
2) Remove the front service panel of the dryer.
3) After the front service panel is removed. You will see the heating element wires and heat shield.
4) Remove the heat shield by plucking the wires out from the heat shield.
5) Also remove the screws holding the heating element.
6) The heating will have to be moved a bit to come out easily. Before removing the heating element out. Please note down the position of old heating element. So while placing the new heating element you don’t face any problem.
7) Replace the element with a new element.
8) Refit all the parts removed while removing the old heating element properly.
These will help. Thanks.

Kenmore Elite Gas range, model # 790.79363401 The range works but the oven does not seem to heat up. It appears to ignite, just not get hot.

Hello,

the problem should be from the heating element of your Kenmore Elite Gas range. The heating element is either defective or may have loosed contact as a result of heat coming out of the Oven. The heat coming from the oven may have melted the wire connected to the heating element which might not make it heat up.

Disassemble the oven and check if its actually the wire connected to heating element that got melted, or its time to replace the heating element.

Good luck.

Dryer starts but no heat. Am I correct in assuming heating element is the only problem?

Its usually not the element
Check 220 voltage at wall it will run on 110 but not heat
Check breaker
Check thermal fuse at top of element case in back
2 wires
But check element anyhow

My Kenmore elite electric dryer will not heat. I

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. No Heat issue in an electric dryer is usually caused due to three things mainly: Thermal Fuse, Wiring Harness and/or Heating Element. Start with checking the Thermal Fuse which is mounted inside the back cover panel to the exhaust duct and is mounted in white plastic housing. If that’s fine then the Heating Element should be checked. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

My Kenmore Elite dryer just quit heating up...is it the heating element or possibly a fuse? The lint trap had qite a bit of lint in it..maybe it just over heated and blew a fuse?

There is a thermal sensor attached to the housing of the heating element, you can check the thermal sensor by jumpering the two wires to the thermal sensor together, and then run the dryer and see if the heating element is now working, if the dryer is now heating up then replace the thermal sensor.

Kenmore elite elec dryer, 110.64972300. runs no heat

Pull one wire off the element and start the dryer in a heat cycle . Check power from that wire to the cabinet . Touch the meter to the terminal you pulled that wire off of , and check that voltage . You cannot get correct voltage by checking across the element . Trace the wire NOT getting 120 volts . It will either go to the timer or motor . It will lead you to the problem .

How to replace a heating element for a kenmore

Hello there
i am posting instruction for this dryer below
(For some help with that, and before buying an element you might not need, please see my article entitled 'The No-Heat Dryer'). Note: Always check airflow out the vent before firing up your dryer with its new element. A partially clogged vent can burn out an element - even a brand new one - fast! Just run the dryer on the 'no-heat' or 'fluff' setting, then go outside and check for a good strong flow of air from the vent hood. If there's any doubt, Whirlpool makes a cool little airflow test kit for their dryers that will tell you for sure, from inside.
There are basically 3 styles of heating elements in use for these dryers.
1) Most common is the 'long' one, part number 4391960, accessed from the back of the dryer, and which looks like this:
wpl%204391960%20el.jpg To replace this one, power down and pull the dryer out and remove the back cover. You'll see a long, vertical 'can' on the right side, with the element coil inside. To remove this can, simply pull the element wires (can be hard to remove; I use a long-nosed pliers), the limit thermostat wires just above them, and the thermal fuse wires if equipped (this is a little device mounted high on the side of the can, with two wires attached). One 5/16" hex screw at the top and a little strap holds the can in place. Remove this screw (You can look through the small hole that lines up with it, originally to poke a long screwdriver through), tip the can rearward, and lift it off its two bottom hooks. Once the can's out, one screw holds the element inside. Remove it, and the old element coil will slide out. Slide the new one in, reverse this process, and you're done!

Dryer elec. works great no heat

You either have a breaker tripped, a wire has burned off in the back, hi limit switch is bad(located under the hood) or last the element has burned in two.
