Firstly, disconnect all devices / base unit from your landline. Then, using a mobile phone, dial your landline number. Does the ringing tone in the earpiece continue or does it stop after one ring? If it stops then you have a line problem which you need to report to your service provider.

New cordless phones have become victims of old technology.
I'll explain:
when all the old phones are gone and a cordless phone base is plugged into the phone wires, it actually is plugged into a interference gathering Web of wires. Try connecting a .1 microfarad ceramic capicator across the red and green phone wires as close to the base unit as possible. Not having a .1 microfarad cap? Then simply plug a few DSL filters into the old unused jacks. Be sure to put one on the wire that feeds the base unit. You are killing the interference signals that are gathered by the unterminated old phone wires that have become an antenna system.

WANT TO REMOVE FLASHING YELLOW LIGHT

You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

How do I access my messages when I am out of town. I have a Panasonic DECT 6.0 Thank you. ginny

Call your phone while you're away, and when your message starts to play enter your remote code. After that, you use the keypad on the phone to control message playback, record a new greeting, etc.

"DECT 6.0" is a generic term for the cordless phone technology, and not your phone model number. You'd find that on a label on the back or bottom of the base unit. Without a specific model I can't look for a manual and give details, but if you have the model listed you can download the manual from Panasonic here. It gives all the steps to set up your remote code and the commands to use. If you have a different model phone you can look for your manual at Panasonic's support page.

For the model listed above, the default remote code is 111. The list of remote commands is

Key Remote command
{1} Repeat message
(during playback)*1
{2} Skip message (during
playback)
{4} Play new messages
{5} Play all messages
{6} Play greeting message
{7} Record greeting
message
{9} Stop recording
Stop playback*2
Start voice guidance*3
{0} Turn answering system
off
{*}{4} Erase message
currently playing
{*}{5} Erase all messages
{*}{6} Erase greeting
message (during
greeting message
playback)
{*}{#} End remote operation
(or hang up)

Maybe this list works for your phone too.

I would like to change the number of rings before answering machine picks up. How do I do that? I have a panasonic cordless dect 6.0 phone

I had the same problem but couldn't figure it out either ..... UNTIL, I changed the date and time (which was very old, actually Sept/2007) to the current date, year, time, am/pm, etc.

After I changed the date, time, year, etc. my phone went back to its normal default of 3 or 4 rings & then the answering message plays.

Hope this helps!

Would like to increase number of rings before answering machine comes on.

Setting the Number of Rings (Excerpt from the Uniden Dect 1580 Phone manual

The ring time setting allows you to set the number of rings the caller hears before your answering system plays the outgoing message. You can set the ring time to answer after two, four, or six rings. If you enable the Toll Saver (TS) setting, the answering system picks up after two rings if you have new messages, and after four rings if there are
none. This way, if you make a long distance call to check your messages, you can hang up after the third ring to avoid long distance billing charges.
  1. Press Menu/Select.
  2. Select the Ans. Setup menu, and then the Ring Time submenu.
  3. Move the cursor to select a ring time (Toll Saver, 2 Times, 4 Times, or 6 Times).
  4. Press Menu/Select. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Range extender for cordless phone

Ours behave similarly. The solution is to position the "base" (one connected to the phone lkine physically) in the center of the home so that the limited range can reach the remote phones at the periphery.
These phones operate at 1.9GHz. At that microwave frequency radio signals do not penetrate walls and floors very well. 2.4 GHz phones suffer increased "path loss" and are no better. The solution for any of these microwave phones is more transmitter power, which is illegal.
900 mHz phones actually work better because at 900 MHz nature offers less signal path loss", but try to find them in stores! For the same transmitter power level a 900MHz phones will have noticeably greater range.
The 1.9GHz D.E.C.T. phones also operate differently from other types of cordless phones and I believe that also contributes to dropped calls and the phone's inability to ring when a call arrives. At the fringe of its range you can see how it struggles to establish a link. Once established it will work well and then simply drop the call when you least expect. I am not a fan of the DECT phones, but they do not interfere with 2.4 GHz wireless routers, etc.
