I need to get rid of cable, What is the fire stick and how does it work?

Silly question maybe - is there power in the outlet where you have the adapter plugged in?

Try using the adapter and cable with your phone to see if you get power.

If you do, I would say you need a new Fire Stick.

Reset is one of the best option to get rid of any problem. How do I fix my Firestick? Hold down the Select + Play buttons together for 5 seconds to Restart the device. Restart the device: Settings > System > Restart, then once restarted unplug the power cable for 5 seconds then plug back in. The Fire Stick just needs a HDMI port to plug into. The ones on the tv (assuming it's a newerish tv with HDMI connections) will work fine.
