Put an oven thermometer in the oven on convection bake and check the actual temp inside. I'll bet it's not maintaining the correct temp in convection.

Kitchenaid kera205pss convection oven feature not working

Beth, you either have a failed convection element, part number 9460769, possible bad terminal connection at the element or a failed oven control. A bad element is the most common failure. replacement instructions for a failed heater can be provided.

The oven preheats, but then "cools down" before I

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

My oven take forever to preheat

Your bake element is probably open. When this happens the broil element may heat slightly when in BAKE mode and that is where your heat is coming from. First thing I would check is the connections to the bake element as well as the element itsef.

Good luck!

Range will not hold a consistent temperature

Good chance your bake element is out. Could be the element or a terminal burned off.
When you set to bake, normally it preheats which uses the bake and broil element.
When it reaches "near" temp, the broil goes off and the bake takes over.
If the bake element, (the one in the bottom), is not working, the temp will decline.

Check:
Turn to 450 deg.
Watch the elements, assuming you have a door with a glass, and see if both elements, top and bottom, glow red.

Amana Convection oven not controlling temp

I have just checked the baking guide in the manual and have found that it may not be us after all. (Maybe this is why they telll us to read the whole manual. Well, I never have) According to the cooking time for Baking, the range is very extensive. For example, an angel cake at 350 could take from 28-50 minutes, buscuits at 375-400 could take 8-16 minutes, layer cakes at 350-375 could take 25-40 minutes, pound cakes at 325-350 could take 45-70 minutes and fresh pies at 400-450 could take 35-60 minutes. Basically, the baking directions on the box means absolutely nothing to use Amana oven owners. We have no choice but to cook our food or baked goods until they are cooked, whenever that may be. :) Linda
