I have a 20 year old Electrolux Epic 6500 SR. Yesterday, for first time, it wouldn't power on. The cord light doesn't light and when I hit the power switch it clicks but nothing happens. But then I find out later that whatever plug I had it plugged into the house circuit breaker has been tripped. Is this a motor problem, a board issue, a power cord? How can I narrow problem down WO taking to a repair shop. We are pretty handy
You have the hot and ground wire crossed.
Testimonial: "It ended up being a bad cord. We replaced the cord winder portion and it worked fine. Until 2 months later when the power head stopped working and the temp light is on. I posted that about a week ago and have no answers to that question yet. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know"
Do you think replacing the cord rewind unit would fix the problem? That seems like a very simple/cheap fix.
OK YOUR QUESTION ISN'T CLEAR. YOU SAY THE CIRCUIT BREAKER IS TRIPPED. AERUS/ELECTROLUX WILL PICK UP AND GIVE YOU AN ESTIMATE FOR FREE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO REPAIR IT COSTS NOTHING. OPENING UP THE MACHINE CAN BE A REAL PAIN AS PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER IS AN EVEN BIGGER PAIN. OTHERS SUGGEST THAT A 20 YR. OLD MACHINE IS TOO OLD TO REPAIR WHICH IS NOT TRUE. IT'S A GOOD MACHINE AND WITH MAINTENANCE CAN LAST FOREVER...I'M GOING ON 40 YRS WITH MINE.
