HP Officejet 6500 Printer Solutions
When your printer is shared among many computers, a separator page is printed between the different print jobs. This option is usually enabled by default. Check in your HP OfficeJet's printer software and make sure if this option is enabled. The steps to check this are as follows. The first step is to power up the HP display panel or the control panel. Now power up the computer connected to your printer, the computer where the HP OJ 6500 software is installed. In the Control Panel of your computer, click on the option Open Devices and HP Officejet 6500 Setup. The Devices and Printers screen opens. In this, you will find the drivers of all the devices that are connected to your system. Now, double click on the HP Officejet 6500 Setup icon. You will see a Customize your printer icon, select it. In this select the 'Advanced' options tab. From this page disable the Separator Page button. This button is found on the right bottom of the page. Uncheck the box next to this option to disable it.

This is actually a quick books issue that they blame on the printers
here are the follwing steps to resolve the issue
Quick Books (2009) qbprint.qbp file change
doc&settings\allusers\appdata\inuit\quickbooks
rename above mentioned file to qbprint.old
if its an erlier version of quickbooks ie. 2006, the file path is then: doc&settings\programfiles\inuit\quickbooks then look for the file and rename it
Here is the website from intuit that acknowledges the issue

I also have the OfficeJet 6500 and had the same problem. The black text was printing using a mix of colored inks instead of the black ink, resulting in a grey, fuzzy text. I finally found a solution. In each application under Page Setup, there is an option called "Format for". Mine had been set to "Any Printer". I changed that to "Officejet 6500 E709n [830E4A]" and now it prints the black just fine. I have a Mac running 10.4.11. Hope this helps.
Unplug the printer for at least overnight. I have 3 of these printers and all 3 have done this. All 3 came back after being unplugged for a long period.
Personally, I think a class action suit might be in order.
