I have a motorola v9. The keypad has stopped working, showed to service centre and they say that the connection between keypad and screen needs replacement - does this make sense ?

power button works half the time.

your suggestion - side key - is this the
(1) 2/3 long silver buttons on the screen side ? So I should open that up (i.e. open the screen) OR
(2) between screen and keypad, there is something that looks like a screw, around which the screen flips open, is this the one

Let me ask you if the power button is working,while others not.if it is working,the only things you do is,you have noticed the side key of your v9,disassemble it and clean the side key interface.your problem will be solve.

you must disassemble it.once you're be able to open,then you can can clean the sidekey interface,pls remove the membrane of sidekey.

its hard to disassemble this kind of phone,that's you must be careful to unscrew.

All keys are not working.. only the red key is working.. but i can use the motorola phone tools

Normally it happens when one key is being pressed permanently (due to stuck keypad or water damage) the none of other keys will work except red one.
Please examine your phone physically if there any key is stuck.. especially volume or camera buttons.
If every things is ok then its worth paying a visit to nearest phone repairing shop, either full service or keypad or Keypad IC replacement will solve the problem

ONLY THE POWER BUTTON ON MY RAZR V9 IS WORKING

Hi,

this is an indication that your Motorola is having a keypad problem. This is very common.

You need to change the whole/complete keypad and they will all function again.

Give the phone to a repair man to fix for your, because, believe me, changing the keypad is very complex and needs a professional touch.

I have a Motorazr v9 and my keypad is not working on it , how do i fix this?

This is a very common problem, it is because of the flex cable that connects the screen and keypad through the hinge. You will need to find someone to do service. I do, outlet3g, but look for someone local, I am in New York.

Motorola v2 9m buttons on outside screen work, but nothing on inside will work except for the power button. please help.

I have encountered this kind of kpad problem before.only power button works.i thought it only a program,but i found the main problem is in the sidekey only.you need to disassemble your phone carefully and clean the sidekey interface.remove the membrane and clean sidekey interface.100% tested.If you have enough money to buy a new keypad flex,then you can replace the keypad flex.
