1. Obtain a Mac OSX install disc (buy one from apple or try Ebay) 2. Insert the disc then click on the "Install Mac OS" icon. Then click the restart button. 3. DONT INSTALL! Just click through enough of the windows to get to the regular set of choices on the menu bar. One of those choices is UTILITIES and one of the choices there is RESET PASSWORD.
Simple, but you should know that anyone with a Mac OSX install disc can gain access to your computer.

I don't remember my password

If you have the disks that came with your computer you can reset the password that way.. otherwise you need to take it to a repair shop that has software for powerbooks.

Your best option is to use a Mac OS X install disk. Insert the disk, hold the 'C' key to startup from the CD drive, and there should be an option to reset your Administrator password. The details will depend on the version of OS X.

Apple has a guide on resetting the administrator password here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=mac/10.4/en/mh655.html This one is for OS X 10.4 (Tiger) but the method is the same for newer versions. In older versions the only difference is that the reset password option mentioned in step 3 is located in the installer menu instead of the utilities menu.
