SOURCE: Top oven will not heat up

Had a similar problem. The overheat sensor had failed to the open position and the oven control would light up and you could set the temp, but it would drop to 100 degrees and then go blank.

SOURCE: GE double oven - bottem will not heat, top oven fine

I had a similar problem. Solved mine by resetting the manual reset thermal switch. The switch for the top oven is located behind the control panal which can be removed easily by taking out three screws then lifting up an leaning out. The switch has a red reset button, just push it in till it clicks.

For safety, SWITCH THE BREAKER OFF WHILE YOU DO THIS!!!

The lower oven switch is located behind the vent grill between the two ovens.

GE should be ashamed of hiding this feature-it isn't mentioned in the manual. I discovered it on a schematic hidden behind the control panal.

    Good Luck, DVS1936

Yes it will need a new element, if the fan runs and temperature light comes on then the element is gone.

Hi, My Bottom oven will not heat up the top oven is working fine. The light comes on when I turn the knob but I'm getting no heat please can you help? Regards, Sharon

If it is fan assisted and the fan is working then you need to replace the oven element located at the rear of the oven compartment.

    My cooker won't heat up

remove the rear panel covering the fan (4 screws) from inside oven. The element is round the fan. you may see where the element has burnt through or split or distorted the element.

My bottom oven isn't working at all but top oven/grill and hob is working fine

If nothing is working in the bottom oven (no fan, no light, no heat) then it is most likely the oven selector switch is faulty.

If you have a light and or fan and they are working, it is a failed oven element.

    Oven no heat

    for king louie
fault is the circular element round the fan. take off the back plate inside the oven and you can often see the damage but not always. to get at the terminals, remove the rear cover and test for continuity across the element with a multimeter - remove any connections before doing this and note down where they go
    for tarzantony.
i can't remember where the cutout is but probably on top of the oven or close to the fan on bthe back. just trace the wiring from the element and it should lead you to it
