SOURCE: Ipod nano 3rd gen.

First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the left, here's how you reset:

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.

SOURCE: I resarted my iphone and now it wont turn back on,

It's not broken. You need to do as I tell. Make sure to count every second.
First, hold the power button (the only button on the top-right corner of your iPhone.
Then, after just a second (literally, 1 second), press and hold the Home button (the only button on the face of your iPhone) at the same time for about 10 seconds. Just to clarify, you must be holding both the power and the Home button during this 10 seconds.
After that, release ONLY the power button and keep holding the Home button for about 10 to 30 seconds longer, until you see this image:

This means your iPhone is already in DFU mode and iTunes from your computer can recognize it already. This also means that you can restore your iPhone and make it operational again.
Now, when you restore, I suggest that you restore to 3.1.2 and not to the latest 3.1.3 software version, so it can be possible for you to jailbreak your iPhone.
And to restore to 3.1.2, here's what you gotta do:
Click here where you will see 2 selections: (1) iPod; and (2) iPhone / iPod touch.
Focus on iPhone / iPod touch and select iPhone 3G (3.1.2/7D11) or iPhone 3G S (3.1.2/7D11) - depending on whether your device is a 3G or a 3G S - and then click download. Tip: it's better if you save it on your desktop.
After the download is finished, open iTunes from your computer, and select your device. You should see the restore button there but before you click it, you must first, hold Alt (or Option) if your using a Mac, or CTRL if your using Windows. This will let you choose what software version you want to restore your iPhone with. So, you must select the one that you just downloaded and click restore.
That should do the trick.

I have a ipod touch my little brother locked it on me and i tried to restore it and it says try again on itunes so i did but it still wont unlock what do i do>???

to fix this you, unfortunately, will need to erase all the data on the iPod.

plug the iPod into the computer using the included USB cable. open iTunes. Hold down the home and power buttons at the same time until it shuts down and reboots. (if it doesn't open automatically) in the column on the left side of the window there is an icon showing your iPod's name. click on it then click on the button that says "restore iPod"

WARNING: this will erase all the content on the iPod (you can put it back on later)

it will ask you to confirm. hit "OK" and keep your iPod plugged in as it restores it to it original state. pick the language you prefer and then load your music back on the device.

Ipod touch wont turn on unless pluged into computer

Itmaybe a battery problem...if you think its not a battery problem, you may want to try a software upgrade/restore...if your software version is already the latest one, backup all the ipod contents before you restore...you will find the restore option in the summary tab in itunes.

Doesnt turn on.

This same thing happened to me. I was playing fantastic contraption and my ipod screen just went black and wouldnt turn back on. When I plugged it in to a charger, it made that charging noise, but wouldnt turn on. SOLUTION: try holding in the sleep/wake(power) button, and the home button at the same time for about 15 seconds or until you see the white apple logo. That worked for me, hope you get it fixed.

Ipod touch randomly shuts down

Hello. This is actually a very common problem with the 1st Generation 16GB Touch. It is recommended you do a system restore before these steps, but not necessary.

Step 1.
Go into Settings, and click on the General Tab
Step 2.
Set Auto-Lock to Never

This should keep it from shutting down randomly. If this does not help the problem then it is an issue with hardware.

Ipod shows sad face

Aye, my friend had this exact problem before i came along :-)

First: Reset your iPod by quickly moving the lock to lock position then back to unlock position, then hold the menu and center button down till the apple logo comes up. Then you can release the menu and center buttons.

Second: Plug your iPod into a power supply, such as the apple AC adapter. Wait till it shows that its charging. Once it shows that, unplug it, reset your iPod once more, then plug back in.

Third: Keep your iPod plugged in after the second reset for about 15-20 minutes. Come back, unplug it, and use it and see if it continues. If still continuing, plug it back in till its fully charged, or the equivalent.

After that, If that doesnt fix it, try contacting Apple Support here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/.

Hope I helped!

My itunes doesnt work

try connecting to another computer that has itunes. this sounds like it wont solve anything but for some reason i get errors sometimes and as soon as i connect to another computer and then connect to the original i dont get errors from the original computer i was trying to use.

if that doesnt work, hold the power and home button untill your ipod shuts off then turn it back on. this sometimes helps as a sort of reset for your ipod without losing any of your music or etc.
hope this helped!
